Tony C Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Must be something in the Surrey air. No such nonsense goes on in the clubs around here. If anybody walks away from our club its because they cant win and are searching for easier pickings, poor souls. Competition is healthy around here, just the way we like it. Wish you all the best The_Widowmaker in whatever course of action you choose, for those who make you feel as you do, shame on them.
Roland Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Alan had 12 y/b's bred him to start him up. But due to wok and travelling hadn't much time. Yes he let them out etc. Fed watered and they lived the life of Riley. He lost six and decided to get shot and start again when time permitted later. Rather than cull he just sent them to the last Race, Berwick 260 miles, all six of them 1st Club and all 6 in top ten. Also 3 top ten Fed cards. Terry's daughter sadly died and he was quite naturely devasted. Happens it was the first season I started up. He got shot all his birds bar two youngsters that no one seemed to want as they had been flying out. I tossed them 20 Miles North as he was going to send the last Race that week - end. Never sent them with me. His nephew put them in the outh road club. Seaton, pushing 200 miles 1st Club, 1st TWO CITY Fed! Go figure. They were loft fit and fresh?
Roland Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Then there was the Lad, Mr Titmus related somehow as I recall,in the BHW. had them 2 years or so. O/B season, First race 1st National, and not many have done that!
Guest Paulo Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 can't understand why people get jealous and whine about losing. After all the winners are there to beat. When I was competing in thai boxing if I lost I always showed good sportsmanship and told the other guy well done and didn't make excuses. Shame some clubs don't seem to like winners and some of the excuses pigeon men come out with for not winning are priceless. I'm canny crap like so I will have to start boning up on the excuses for when I start.
jimmy white Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 widowmaker , going back a bit in the posts , that was true about the tosses , but i dont think i would advise that, its the old story if your at the bottom every week your every bodies freind , but if your at the top every week , theres some jelous people out there, especialy in club racing
peterpau Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 What's this about not being jealous of National success? Bloody sure I'm jealous of Rose............. Still pleased with what we've done in the last three years though.
jimmy white Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 not sure thats jealousy p,p probably more envious of the winner, as most of us would be like, as we would like to be the winner :) but bitter jealousy is a differant thing and can cause a lot of trouble
peterpau Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Sorry Rose, I appreciate what you say. Just trying to put a different angle on the subject. For me, I want to beat the best, not go off and form a new club so the best can't join. Guess I am lucky as our top flyer always has them in the the clock before us. He just can't get 'em over the water. That's where ours shine.
