fifestay Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Just had a fancier friend ring me ...distraught, he along with others had ordered Birds via an agent in Belgium ...agent got Birds and Birds were dispatched via AMTRAK to Fife, Elgin, and other areas ..nothing ...after 3 Days tracked them to Liverpool. The depot informed them that they thought that the best course of action was to liberate ( we let them go!) Bird mostly 26/27 day old YBs. Others were worth thousands... stockys.. bloody appalling. The agent phoned the RSPCA poor wee souls in a box for 4 Days in boiling temps and then let go!!
kev01293 Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 thats really cheered me up,im using amtak tommorow 4 the first time and didnt want to use them anyway after all the bad press ive read, what they do is animal cruelty and they should be charged as such,i dread 2 think what state those poor yb,s were in when they released them kevin
Keepsmilingqueen Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 good god thats horrendus !! :'( i hope the buyers of the birds got compensation from amtrak at the very least "liberate in deed ! are they insane" and to think i just got 2 birds delivered yesterday after reading this im glad they made it in one peice ! sharron
dandydoo Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Most time KSQ, they are OK but Amtrak mebbe should issue guidelines re livestock or at least have someone that can handle feed and water
schouwman71 Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 They avnt a clue,i had some delivered a few weeks ago and the bloke who delivered them ,knocked on my door and on answering the door ,he said to me i have some flying rats for you sign here, well ,i didnt take that easily as i nearly put my fist down his throat, the last 2 that came he was a diferent person, guess he got the message.
Dave A Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 the owners / final destination should have been contacted first and im sure they would have gone to liverpool to fetch em. i personally have never had a problem with amtrak always here the next day and in good nick, but that is disgusting !
Guest Paulo Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 "flying rats'' cheeky barsteward some humans are bigger rats than pigeons
Roland Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 Great to get the RSPCA involved... means they will be using that as another excuse to get their begging bowls out again. Good job it was reported to some like the Animal Recue service or Animal right etc. But suppose they will jump on the band wagon as soon as they hear. Yes disgraceful as it is, less said sooner mend, and no good shut the barn door after the horse has bolted. far, Far better avenues available than getting ‘Money Making Machines’ involve with another story at the expense of this sport I reckon! Still harm is done now! Another nail is awaiting though ... We need bad publicity like a hole in the head. We need positive and worthwhile things only to be made known and addressed in the media. But I agree whole - heartedly that it is inexcusable and unbelievable, and someone should be held to an account.
Guest shadow Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 All the people that have problems with their Amtrack depot need to report there findings to Amtrack's head office The drivers are self employed working for Amtrack on franchise. this is why some don't care and should loose their franchise to improve things.
Guest bristolkev Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 I only use the phantom flyer he first class ;D
