Peckedhen Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 My young birds still have blue breasts though they are not scaly. I feed them about 1 1/4 ounce Breed and Wean a day. They have garlic in their water followed by plain water, cider vinegar, plain water, vitamins, plain water. Any suggestions what I should do to get the breasts pink please?
Guest Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Possibly too much protein if the breasts are blue, could add some barley to the mix to decrease protein intake.
Guest Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Early season my youngsters where on youngbird mix (high protein) breasts where bluish, changed morning feed to 50/50 depurative and red band and within a week instantly better. Flew much better aswell, with a light feed in the morning they went like dynamos.
Guest ian snaith Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 must be cold clockman.............lol
andy Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 ADD 50% GERRY PLUS TO YOUR MIX, YOU'LL SEE A DIFFERENCE IN THREE DAYS..
Roland Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 I agree with Darren, most proable cause is too much protein, and this will cause toxins in the system... So cut out flying straight of and treat to cleanse the blood and system out. I'd restrict execise first off, then cleanse meself then just cut down on the protien. 17% is ample this time of year, upto 22% tops when feeding, I'm just less than that, about 20% when rearing. Pigeons don't excel flying wise with protein, mostly carbs. a nice layer of fat then between layers of muscles and Liver cleanse and ample carbs for flying.
Wiley Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 to get rid of the toxins i use a pint of milk and a pint of water to a table spoon of honey, but only put it lightly in the drinker so they have to sip it this is wat we do on race days and you should see the droppings come out,ya can tell theres alot of crap coming out of there system
Guest Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Green Tea for 5 days is as good as anything, add a splash of garlic oil every other day to purify the bloodstream
schouwman71 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 cut some lemons up and put them in there water,Best thing out for getting there flesh pink, they look very well on the lemon.
Chatrace Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 After you give them all the things mentioned, they may be dead, lol it is the protien blues, don't use such good feed :-)
Peckedhen Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 LOL Bill! Thanks very much for all the advice - seems there are as many ideas as there are replies! I'll give some of them a try and keep you posted. Cheers. Sue :K)
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 I'V GOT BLUE TITS IN MY GARDEN :) WELL GET IN THE HOUSE YOU IDIOT
jimmy white Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 pigeon tea on a sunday after the race,, try putting small cube of cut garlic, down their throat, for a couple of days and feed lighter diet, half depurative , given first, then half mix,,,plenty of baths
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 ANYONE COME ACROSS YELLOW BREASTS (NO CRACKS ABOUT CHINEASE GIRLS) I HAVE A OLD HEN THAT SEEMS TO HAVE A YELLOWY BREAST ALL THE TIME,SHE,S NOT LAYED AT ALL THIS YEAR WONDERED IF ANYONE HAD COME ACROSS THIS BEFORE.
Peckedhen Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Posted August 30, 2006 Too fat? :-/ Dunno - first thing that sprang to mind!!
Wiley Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 yep ur right pecked hen the pigeon with the yellow breast is defaintly too fat get it on some depurative,it is also quiet possibly a reason y the pigeon hasnt laid a very common thing with fat pigeons
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 THING IS THIS BIRD IS IN WITH ALL THE OTHER PIGEONS, HAD NO PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THE OTHER HENS SO I,M CERTAIN IT,S NOT BECAUSE SHE,S TO FAT.
Wiley Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 do you race the hens,do you let them out for regular exercise,do you feed them all together or individually! Yellow skin underneath has always been known to me to be pigeons overweight, i tend to find it in one or two of my stock hens in which i make sure lose this before breeding starts, or you find what has happened in this particular that it hasnt laid all year.
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 SHE IS A STOCK HEN AND DOESN,T FLY OUT BUT THEN AGAIN SO ARE THE OTHER HENS IN THE SAME LOFT,AND THEY ALL GET FED TOGETHER.
Wiley Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 some pigeons eat more then others, and other eat quicker i found this out with my stock pigeons thats y i feed individually now.Like i said it happens to 1 or 2 of my stock hens out of 12 pairs get the yellow skin every year
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 WHAT WOULD YOU SAY WOULD BE THE BEST THING TO GET HER BACK INTO SHAPE WOULD BE.
