andyb Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 i restarted with ybs this season. only 10 but i still have 6 left. i want to compete in the longer races as i am unable to clock most weeks. is it possible to do this without club racing as it is so expensive. remember i live in cornwall too
andyb Posted September 3, 2006 Author Report Posted September 3, 2006 THANK GOODNESS I'M NOT A COMPLETE NEW STARTER AS I AM UNDERWHELMED AT THE ADVICE AND HELP
frank-123 Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 give the guys some time to reply to your post is my advice ;D ;D
jimmy white Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 you wont be able to do i without patience ;D ;D ;D you would have to spend a lot of time private training, setting them up in the right condition , and have the birds that are capable of doing the job, and having the feeding spot on etc etc ,
peterpau Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Yes. You can do it but the road will be full of pitfalls. It will be a long time before you're as successful as "rose" perhaps. Aim for the stars you might reach the moon. You will need bigger numbers though. Bigger losses too. I hope you've got the bottle. Good luck.........
Guest Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Andy, you may think the forum is a bit like a chat room, live with someone in it all the time. It isn't. Its more of a 'leave a message and get back to me' kinda thing. If I understand you correctly, you're not doing club racing because you can't be there every week to time in. I think you will find it cheaper and safer to 'train' your birds in the club racing rather than risk 6 birds on the road in private training, hawks and such-like.. I'd suggest planning 'a mixed programme' of private training at the start of the season then chose specific club races in your birds preparation for the longer events. But doing that with only 6 birds will be a nightmare. If you're successful, you might want to think about Football management next!
Guest ukseanuk Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 andy good look with your method hope it works for you.
andyb Posted September 5, 2006 Author Report Posted September 5, 2006 many thanks to all who hav replied but maybe my mesage ws not that clear as although i have just restarted i am certainly not a novice. the few pigeons that ihave are bred for the distance and i hae been sending them inclub races. however i work most weekends and do not really want to pay £120 subs per year just to let them come home and let themselves in. iam quite a hard taskmaster and actually suprised myself that i haveo many left even out of10! i shoud ad that i have one little coppennolle hen whaich i already have confidence in flying palamos in two years time.
GROVEHOMER Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Good luck! I know how hard it is to build a team in Devon & Cornwall, Cornwall has the worst of it though. Hawks, the terrain and the low birdages all make it extremely testing for us, add to that the prevailing wind (S.W. or W.) its a hard task ahead of you. Having said that I wish you well, please keep us posted.
jimmy white Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 do you live near truro, i sent mr mrs wilson a bird a few years ago which bred his nat winner and won the car , maybe worth having a word with him [philip],,, or shirley pascoe who also had a few of sir colin lines who does well from the distance into cornwall my x lady freind, but still a dab hand with the birds, i must admit
Guest speckled Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 ;D ;D ;D Ex lady freind lol. wooooooooooo jimmy ;D ;D ;D
