jimmy white Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 im still on grandmas side, hope shes not reading this anyway :)
hooky Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 if the animal rights people do visit this board don't you thin kthey would be suprsed at just how many pigeons youse people loose each year to wander the buildings around town starving to death..
jimmy white Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 hooky ,,simle question why do you do this? when most fanciers want their birds back whether it be a young lad or young lass, sor oap or anyone for that matter,,,,,,,, as a matter of interest i got a yb back at the start of the ob season, been roughing it all winter, this bird tuned out winning 7 races in a cup sending an ave of 600 birds a week also taking many fed prizes 5000 a week [yes remember ian , the whiteflight cock]the bird also winning a LOT of money.,,,,, so if you are trying to say that lost babies are no good your entirely wrong, as im sure after the last few weeks, there will be a lot of members agree what i say,,,,,,you can loose the best of them, but this yb that granma is feeding is only there, because she is feeding it, and shes probably getting a lot of satisfaction ,in doing so., also its through things like this we get new people starting up, grandmas sons, or g. sons, who knows, but not with comments like yours,,,,gdauy myte :)
mosslands1 Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 put all the joking aside if grandma would like to pm me her address i will send her some money for a bag of corn that should keep everyone happy
Peckedhen Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Speck - the bird I caught had been hanging around with my birds for a few days. It was not rung and could have been carrying goodness know what diseases. I decided that it was time to take it for a ride in the car so that it could find itself some new friends!!
Joe90 Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 P/hen Did the bird return to yours, after you let it up. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Guest speckled Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 ;D ;D Wise to get rid lol how far down the road ya take it, joe i hope it did not return. :o Speck
Guest Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Well folks I'm going to order some of tjhose "Boomerage" strain of pigeons from Australia, looks like they don'y loose anyover there.
Guest NUMA Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 all this has really helped the original poster, i bet they won't bother helping another stray.
Peckedhen Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I think that Andyb helped the original poster via her email ad. I took the bird only about 12 miles away and no, Joe90, it didn't return. I think that it went down into Cornwall somewhere!! ;D ;D ;D
andyb Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 i am trying to help this non fancier and i have to say that after a lifetime in pigeons i am currently feeling ashamed to call myself a fancier. i love a laugh just as much as the next person but most of these comments belong in a gutter
Guest Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Sticking first with the original post:- Andy, have your trainees had any success yet in catching the pigeon? If not, isn't there any pigeon people in the neighbourhood who can help? Secondly, on the other posts:- Like it or not, Hooky's post about the fate of lost racing pigeons is truthful. Most don't survive too well out there in the wild. Its no laughing matter, and again Hooky has picked up on the REAL danger of letting this go on as if it was normal. I repeat, the REAL DANGER is not from animal rights, but from Animal Welfare, with the powers in the new Animal Health & Welfare Act to back them up. Likely action is from the RSPCA and Environmental Health, not PETA over there or their equivalent over here, UNLESS of course we act first to put our own affairs in order.
Roland Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 PETA Advocate the Killing of animals. that have, no . full stop, their Mandate proscribes to mass slaughter. Have documented proof is questioned to back it up!
