Guest Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Was anyone bidding for the NFC Youngster tonight, and if so were you as p***** off as me. I was waiting till the last couple of mins to bid £300 for the said bird as I was hoping not to get outbid, and the bids were staying at 220 till the last 2 mins. When surprisingly the website froze my screen until 8.00oclock when the auction was closed and the bird was sold for £250. I have never tried to buy birds like this before and I don't think I will bother again. Surely websites like this should have a 5 minute rule after last bid to ensure they get the last bids in and make as much money as they can. Seems funny it froze until exactly 8.00pm (any thoughts why that could be) or am I just paranoid. I have never witnessed anything like this before and to tell you the truth I was gutted as I really wanted to buy the bird.
Guest Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Well guess I better find somewhere else to spend my money. Anyone reckon I can get anything at the Mardon sale for that money. :'( :'( :'(
ribble Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 hard luck widow,it looks a cracking youngster.why not get in contact with him and see if he will sell the nestmate?
fifestay Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 sometimes maybe everyone was attempting to gazump at 5 to 8. Maybe spk to the Fancier that bred him ...i found often you get more choice and cheaper going to the Guy direct
Guest Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Thanks guys , I would feel cheeky phoning him and probably in a queue anyway probably others bugging him for nestmate.
fifestay Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 If you dont ask ...you wont get ..try it
Roland Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Nice to c u trying to improve your fine birds Darren ... guess when you don't it goes down hill real fast, but there are always plenty willing to sell, and always plenty about if one is patient.
Guest Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Sure you are right Roland but can't tell you how disappointed I was when I see it go for £50 less than I wanted to pay. Thems the breaks.
Jeremy Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Thats why we put the 10 min rule on the RPRA 1Loft auction this way it does not stop dead and someone missis out on a bird they really want.
Guest Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 I emailed les Rose, telling him I was not happy but to be honest what can you do. It was an auction and it finished - just annoyed me that it locked me out till dead on 8.00pm when it closed. (Weird ha) hey ho save my money and look for something else, I may approach a top flyer for a kit of youngsters for next year instead of stock birds.
RoryTheRed Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Prettyjohn is a good flier in the Plymouth area and has some very good birds though he has been stuffed nearly every week by the Fed Topper of Plymouth Roger Cutforth!!! ( Read Squills 2007 ) Roger nearly topped the fed from every old bird race he entered and has been the most likely to win for the last 20 yrs. If you want birds to be there for you from 50 to 300 then get some from him, mainly Janseens. Read the Janner reports from end of April 06 - he never raced ybs because his daughter got married.
swilcox Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Widowmaker I have an auction for Raymond Moleveld at Rayliegh, est of london, there will be at least 20 children of Janssen racing champion with 1st 2nd or 3rd upto 30,000birds, come along and have a look!!! Stuart
Wiley Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 ill probably be there but Herman Beverdam learnt a lesson selling pigeons down here stuart, they wont take alot of money out of there pockets, thats y heartofengland auctions prefere if theres a fancier down here that contacts them to sell there birds that they sell the birds up north.Herman beverdam came down her think it was 4 years ago and neva returned, theres hardly ever auctions down her cos of that reason
Guest Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I think one aspect of Internet Auctions that would worry me is that you don't really know who you are bidding against ... plus I don't know what safeguards are in place to protect bidders against people running the lots up? I'll balance those comments up by saying that Internet Auctions do allow you to bid from the comfort of your own home and payment is sorted out quickly and effectively.
swilcox Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 True Mate, most of them are fixed to give the impressions the pigeons are making high prices!!!!
Guest Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Where and when is it Stuart. Is it in the rag. Cheers
