PIGEON_MAN Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 OBVIOUSLEY THE DATE AND ALL THE ARRANGEMENTS HAVE TO BE MADE WELL IN ADVANCE BUT DO YOU THINK WE WILL BE IN A POSITION THIS YEAR TO HOLD SHOWS E.T.C.
Guest CS Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Fingers crossed, Pigeon man.. last year was cancelled to due bird flu... hope this year still on... Are you going if the show still on? Pigeon man
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 I,VE NOT EVER BEEN TO THAT ONE BEFORE BUT MAY CONSIDER IT NEARER THE TIME JUST HOPE THAT THE BIRD FLU DONT STOP THE SHOWS THIS YEAR.
Guest Paulo Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 been to one years ago as a kid when they used to have it through peterlee. Might go this year
Guest CS Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 yeah Paulo, but the peterlee show is finished, moves to a new placement, hope better than Peterlee shows....
Keepsmilingqueen Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 iv never been to the show since it moved from peterlee either, dad stopped taking me as i spent too much money lol ;D im gonna try and make an appearence this year tho if it runs as i havent been to a pigeon show since i was about 15 and i miss them im gonna try an drag my mother down to blackpool this year, as thats by far my favorite show
Pompey Mick Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 I can see no reason for the Shows not to go ahead, unless AI breaks out in the UK. The current permit which allows gatherings has no time limit and will remain in force all the time the situation remains stable. When we had the AI outbreak in Scotland DEFRA only imposed regional restrictions. I don't know if DEFRA will want the RPRA to regulate the Shows as it is doing with the races in England or that individual Clubs will need to inform their local Divisional office. With a General permit in force it should be easier to organise than last year when we had to apply for individual permits.
Guest Paulo Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 Was years ago when I went wasn't that bothered about pigeons as a kid so I took a huff as wanted to go to pictures rather than look at some birds in a cage lol. Dad said the peterlee shows weren't that good in his opinion I wouldn't mind going to this one through to see what the venue is like. Plus south shields is a great place to go for a curry and a few bevvies after. Never been to Blackpool def going to go in 07 our pigeon club orginises a bus trip down there. Whats Blackpool like then?
Roland Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 Never been ... Seems that the entertainment is great, other than that, the sames ones in the clubs that sit and pally go together to do the same there lol.
jimmy white Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 ive been to the petelee show, in fact i judged there once, found the most freindliest people, easy to get along with, with a great sense of humour, i surmise the n,e, show will be something along the same lines
Alf_Rothwell Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 Jimmy I can remember when you judged at the NEHU "North East Show of the Year" I am still paying for all the trouble you caused. (Only joking). Most Judges had a good time there and the Easington & District Council Officials treat the NEHU very well and did their best to help us make it the Best 1 day Show in England or even the UK. I hope the South Shields show can be better than Peterlee for the NEHU as the profit from the show helped keep the costs down in running the NEHU. THe biggest problem at Peterlee was parking your car. Alf Rothwell
Guest Paulo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Alf, have you got family that used to live in Ushaw Moor?
Alf_Rothwell Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Yes, I lived in Ushaw moor for 30 years and still have relatives there. My father and I flew in Ushaw Moor HS also flew in New Brancepeth HS I had some great friends when I lived there from 1960 to 1965. Do I know you? Alf Rothwell
Guest Paulo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I thought the name was familiar you won't know me but will prob know my Granma and dad. Flew as Mr and Mrs Fullard & son. Tommy, Lily and Trevor Fullard in Ushaw Moor HS. My dad packed in 1992 after my granda died but I'm starting to fly again next year on my own.
Alf_Rothwell Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Paula, I last met your grandmother a couple of years agp at Peggy Tweddles 80th birthday party. I can remember your grandparents living in Dale Street and had an allotment in front of our loft. Is it not time Ushaw Moor were forming a pigeon club again? Cheers, Alf R
Keepsmilingqueen Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Blackpool was great, im my memory the venue was neverending, but i was 14 at the time, i can remember we even went back on the evening to watch the judging of the show classes, so many birds for sale as well !!! i always used to want the early bred youngsters that were imported from belg, but alas my dad never gave in and got me any !! > if i go this year im taking plenty of ££££ chocolate melumans spring to mind lol ;D sharron
Guest Paulo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Its Paul mate not Paula lol just have my screen name as paulo on here. I'll tell her I was talking to you she's still quite active for her age still rides horses and helps me out with the allotment. Aye have you heard the news they are building houses on the old allotments really big shame years of history up there. I've got a new one on the bottom allotments where Ray Pearson and them fly but its not the same. Looks like quite a few of the pigeon men will have to pack in. Can't see Ushaw Moor forming a club again which is a shame really as it was a good club especially when the cricket club had a club running as well. Just not enough young people going into the sport at 25 I am the prob one of the youngest people who has pigeons. I'm going to fly in Bearpark which is where most people in Ushaw Moor fly now. One or two fly in New Brancepeth such as Phil Dowson and Ray Pearson flys in Sacriston I think. We still live at Dale Street my Gran at no 2 and my parents with myself and my sister at no22.
Guest Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Paulo, Do you relalise that it is sacrelidge to mention Curryies on here, ask Westbury Lofts. Been in the State nearly 7 years now, and can't get a decent curry anywhere. Just the mention of a good curry makes me hungry bad tempered and liable to kick Steve lol. As for Blackpool, greatest place on earth Pigeon Weekend
Guest Paulo Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I can't wait to go should be a good laugh I'm even treating my gran to a trip away to butter her up for looking after the pigeons when I go to thailand on a thai boxing trip again next december. I'll ship you a few curries over as a pressie lol. Do you miss some of the english things like HP sauce, decent tea etc or are they fairly easy to get hold of? I would miss pot noodles.
