Chatrace Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 If you win every week you can't loose Avg speed
Beanz Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 If you beat someone every race they cannot beat you for the averages how can they gain back the time behind you if they never beat you. I have been secretary of clubs and do not see how this can be correct
gangster Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 YOUR AVIN A LAFF CAN NOT BE BEATEN IF YOU WON ALL THE RACES..... ;) ;)
Guest Vic Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Hi Guys, The following is a brief comparison of the point in question. Nowhere as good as my previous example, but it will prove some of you wrong. Figures don't lie. Distance. 60ths yd Flying Time secs vel Smith 100 miles 10560000 4.00.00 14400 733.33 Jones 110 miles 11616000 4.24.20 15860 732.40 Smith 200 miles 21120000 6.00.00 21600 977.77 Jones 210 miles 22176000 6.18.30 22710 976.48 Smith 300 miles 31680000 15.00.00 54000 586.66 Jones 310 miles 32736000 15.31.00 55860 586.03 Smith 400 miles 42240000 21.00.00 75600 558.73 Jones 410 miles 43296000 21.34.00 77640 557.65 Total Figures Smith 1000 miles 10560000 46.00.00 165600 637.68 Jones 1040 miles 10982400 47.47.20 172040 638.36 MR SMITH HAS 4 FIRSTS AND DOESN'T WIN THE AVERAGES. ;D Vic.

You figure it all wrong, the average speed award is for the average speed from the total of the Speed raced that day added to the other days and divided by the number of races not distance and time on the wing sum average. Smith had a total of 2856.49 for 4 races or 714.1225 YPM Jones had a total of 2852.56 for 4 races or 713.14 YPM

Guest Vic Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Sorry Guys, In the Total Figures below, 17240 should read l7270, and changes velocity to 638.25. I was falling asleep last night when I done it. :B Vic.
square_peg Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 I READ IT :-/ :-/ BUT I DONT BELIEVE IT :o :o :o ;D
johnny11 Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Vic On this you are correct and this is down to the low vels, but 99/100 you do not get that many low velocities that is why we dont really see this.
Roland Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Truth is stranger than fiction ... Total distances of miles and time taken may put Vic right, as I know a few scenarios in Maths that defy logic. On this one the court is out as I haven't the basic knowledge - Ashamedly- as to how the system works.
Guest Vic Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 John, I agree with you. BUT it is possible, and that substantiates my original statement. It also shows a slight flaw in our method of calculating averages. Vic.
Jeremy Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Hi Pigeon Man What do you think of this way to work out the averages Tony???
jimmy white Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 RULE 8. RACE RULES SHU. [contstitution and rules] in arriving at the best average velocity, theTOTAL DISTANCE flown and the TOTAL TIME occupied by each competitors first bird,, in each race to be taken and the average velocity calculated from" SUCH TIME AND DISTANCE" so vics, mr smiths TOTAL DISTANCE was 1000 miles which is 10560000 60ths yd mr smiths TOTAL TIME was 46,00, 00 which is 165600 secs ,so the velocity calculated from" SUCH TIME AND DISTANCE"is 637.68. mr jones,s TOTAL DISTANCE was 1040 miles which is 10982400 60th yd, mr jones TOTAL TIME was 47.47.20 which is 17270 secs. so the velocity calculated from" SUCH TIME AND DISTANCE" is 638.25 so mr smith has 4 firsts and doesnt win the averages :) very strange indeed , but according to these rules, correct :o ;D
PIGEON_MAN Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 HI VIC,SORRY FOR THE DELAY WITH MY ANSWEAR TO THIS BUT NOT HAD TIME TO CHECK THE FIGURES UNTIL NOW,I HOLD MY HANDS UP MATE I THOUGHT THAT YOU MUST BE TALKING RUBBISH IN THE BEGINNING BUT YOU ARE RIGHT IN WHAT YOU STATED,MR.SMITH WON ALL THE RACES BUT DIDN,T WIN THE AVERAGES,I ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS WOULD NOT HAVE THOUGHT IT POSSIBLE,FARE PLAY TO YOU FOR PUTTING THE FIGURES UP AND SHOWING US ALL TO BE WRONG. P.S. I TO USED TO USE A SWIZZLE STICK OTHERS MAY NO IT AS A VARIATION SLIDE RULE OURS COST £3.17.6d INCLUDING POSTAGE FROM THE RACING PIGEON 19 DOUGHTY ST.LONDON.
jimmy white Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 and fair play to you pigeon man ,,,as i thought the same ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
