nutverlal Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Hi all What is the policy or procedure when pigeons are being sold that do not belong to them? If a pigeon is rung, stamped, registered to a club and is being sold off by a third party (sky thef) to someone else or to the petshop, what can be done? The police and trading standards policy : A pigeon that is lost or stolen and is being sold at a petshop or third party, and not returned to the rightful owner, then they are recieivng stolen goods, also aiding and beting. How true is this? And can we stop this, if we all fanciers unite and come with our own agreement? Merry Christmas & happy new year. Thanks all for replying.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 some birds that are stolen are never seen again , if somebody is breaking into a stock loft and stealing certain birds he is not doing it to sell them , they are stolen for a purpose

birdman55678 Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Actually birds that are lost and go into another loft are not stolen, they are just lost, it should be the responsibility of the flyer to notify the club, from personal experience the majority of the time you will notify the club secretary and never have the call returned from the flyer or if they do call they will just ask you to release the bird away from the loft at a convientant time for you. I have heard that some flyer just dispose of the bird when they get a strange one in so as not to have the long distance charges and hassel involved. It would be nice if there were somekind of national policy here that was inforcible. Ed
GREENGRASS Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 what about a fancier getting in another fanciers young bird and keeping it and racing it and then sending it to the young bird national and timing it in to take a position in section f. How unfair is that.
PIGEON_MAN Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 what about a fancier getting in another fanciers young bird and keeping it and racing it and then sending it to the young bird national and timing it in to take a position in section f. How unfair is that. Was the bird transferred to the new owner before it took the position. If the answear is yes then ther,s no problem,if the answear is no then the person was breaking the rules and should of been suspended.
GREENGRASS Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 the bird was not transferred but i doubt very much if the person who timed it will face any charges.
