blackjack Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 I would like to ask with the predicted changes do people still think we can win an international ?with Dax gone on favour of Tarbes and Pau now a midday lib its going to make it that much harder leaving Tarbes as are best hope .
robinthfc Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Not being an expert on the south and mainly being a North Roader, I should imagine Britain is at a disadvantage to the continent with mid day libs. Mid day Libs for distance races is a load of rubbish in my opinion.
Pompey Mick Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 I don't think DEFRA will sanction participation in planned mid-day libs in their present state of mind. Hopefully more relaxed restrictions will be implemented this coming season.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Y R THEY GOING TO MID DAY LIBS?
Roland Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Too help them selves to a better advantage ... like the South Coast boys do every chance they get ... for even bigger and a better advantage to those flying 150 - 300 miles further. And as no two days are alike, there is another advantage. The idea - as it is put over - is that the birds will only be able to reach the coast, but not cross. So a simple hop over the 20 miles of water and Roberts your dads brother. Of course those flying further have tired muscles. Get got wind breeze THEN have to face the elements etc. AND supposedly faster than the Channel Hoppers etc. Of course those flying further are generously bolstering their coffers. And then of course ADVERTISE middle distance birds as Distance winners etc. Yes a con. All birds should - where applicable, be given every chance, aid, help to home on the day! To be in their Loft at nightfall. Hence as soon as the sun shows it face and taken a ny nipp out the air. AND why not! Certainly not hindered with cra that it's fairer if they can only reach the channel by dark... Birds will and do fly at night, and some will attempt the crossing! And that's another fact!
blackjack Posted January 16, 2007 Author Report Posted January 16, 2007 Good memory Rose yes they wouldnt let us fly Bordeaux and i think we discussed the demise of Dax as a racepoint and people think the British are cynical. please forgive the spelling.
Bilco Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 And what did I tell you after Britain won the first International Dax race? However, I DO think we can win an International from Tarbes, or Montauban, or even Pau, with an early lib. The French central massif is a formidable obstacle for les Belges, and they well know it. Cheers, Bill.
