Wiley Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 "Quote" The Van Leeuwen & Van Ruyven sale of pigeons look great, it is good to see as sale of pigeons that have won 1st prizes. Also the Lowik Brothers sale where they can time in when its dark eg 02.00, 03.00 flying a long distance into the North of Holland "Quote" As you know i study dutch racing very closely and have to say i have never heard of the Van Leeuwen & Van Ruyven? and i have asked around in Holland and they dont seem to be any wiser!!! As for Lowik Brothers well it might be harsh but they aint in the top 50 of Dutch Long Distance racers!!!! good in there club from what i can read. It seems to me that these birds are brought over as they dont command any appeal in there own country. How many Lowik pigeons are flown by other fanciers in Holland? just shows england is the dumping ground as they say
Guest Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Stu, is there a list of top 50 Dutch fanciers? How are these judged? (genuine question)
swilcox Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Well there is the WHZB who produce a list of fanciers, and top pigeons and there is a competition called the "Best of the Best" these are the two i use for middle distance. The ZLU produce an ACE fancier list also but the best thing to do is look yourself on compuclub. The good thing about Dutch results there very easy to source on the net!!! Stuart
Chris Little Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Cheers Stu , you just answered a question I was gonna ask you about Lowik even though I have never seen their names at the top of the national results. What is the best site to access Dutch national results Cheers Chris
Silverdale Lofts Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Thanks Stuart for that information but its same has Belgium was once talking to some fanciers never heard of Staff van reet would be interesting to know where Braspenning is in the list of 50?
gangster Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 WITH NO DISRESPECT TO BERT WHEN IVE BEEN OVER TO HOLLAND THE DUTCH CONSIDER HIM TO BE SELLING OFF PAST PERFORMANCES NOT UP TO DATE WINNING ??????????????????????????????????
Bad Trapper Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Joe Dornings sale I think he is very under-estimated.

blackjack Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 I have just seen this weeks book and yes Joe Dornings sale looks the Best for good hard honest pigeons look at the young of two crackers the Postal strike cock and Fulwood Barrister. Just look they win no Donkere this or Witpen that and at all distances that is the sale that stands out for winners that breed winners in fed and national .
Guest Vic Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 I'm surprised, nobody has mentioned the PATRICK BROS Friday night sale. The birds on offer include:- THREE direct from Champion SOMESET LAD, 1st OPEN PAU NFC. TWO direct from SOMERSET PRIDE, 6th OPEN NANTES NFC. 12th OPEN PAU NFC. 49th OPEN SAINTES NFC. 19th BBC NATIONAL NANTES etc. ONE from ONVIEW GRAND a superlatve racer and proven BREEDER to boot. What an opportunity for those interested in LONG DISTANCE CLASSIC PIGEON RACING! WHY DREAM ABOUT THE CREAM? Vic.
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 take a long good look at the thousands of birds on offer over the BLACKPOOL weekend Apart from the WALL LUNT GREEN GALLEY SALE you can put on one hand the actual winners in these sales WHY
Guest jason Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 if I was going to a sale at blackpool i'd go to the mr & mrs Turner one on friday in the opera house, I'm good friends with john turner and I've seen some of them he's selling, they're absolute corkers. I had a look at 'Avengarde envy' and she really is a belting pigeon. jason
blackjack Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Sorry Nancyview i think you should look at Joe Dornings sale those results are not just sprint look and comment it would be interesting and his have done well in nationals not just feds.
madmaxlofts Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Im going to have a nosey at masserella sale nice van der rhee hen in last weeks bhw im interested in if it goes for a pound lol
Guest Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Vic, like you I'm surprised no one has mentioned Patrick Bros, so I'll mention them. Long distance racing was on the way back before last season and I think he ban may have done some damage to that surge. But if you want long distance racing and Peter Bryant's optimimism turns to reality, then the only place to be is at Patrick Bros sale. Steve Patrick and I have never met but over the last few years have corresponded and shall we say not exactly agreed!! But if I were at Blackpool or if I had the money to 'phone bid, this is the sale, I would target. Why? Well you have a pair of fanciers that have performed at all distances, I remember several decades ago reading about their super performances in Newbury (I think!!) and then they put up some great performances when they moved to the long distance and now their in Belgium they are doing it there! If you are buying from this sale there will be some added value. Firstly in respect that they now live on the continent and they will have already done all the donkey work for you, in selecting the very best performance distance bloodlines and secondly, you have total honesty, you know that you will be getting exactly what it says there will be no fancy adverts claiming to be top fancier in the Antwerp Double Dutch club , (and before someone says there is such a club ..alledgedly ;D.) I suspect as well though I hope not for Patrick Bros sake that there will be some real bargains, because most of you will be off to the sales with the biggest and best publicity rather than examine the deatils of the birds on offer. Though we disagree and Steve often puts a flea in my ear, I have nothing but respect and admiration for Steve and Philip and would that I had the finance to purchase some of the super birds on offer.
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 sorry blackjack but i did say you could put on one hand the decent sales i did not say all of them remember pigeons are expencive but reputations are PRICELESS have a good weekend
Guest Vic Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Albear, I too, have never met the Patrick Brothers, but have admired some of their outstanding peformances over the last decade or so. Two ultra keen flyers, who have worked hard during their reign of success. Vic.
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 good flyers are Patrick Bros as a matter of interest what distance did they fly from at PAU when they flew in England
andy Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 just shows england is the dumping ground as they say Agree, If all these foreign birds are so fantastic, why dont/cant they sell them on their own doorsteps? The mind boggles! Stick to the Andy Galley sale as its the winners that are being sold. Good Luck.
Guest Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 Interesting reply Andy, it made me think, if you look at all the sales would it be a good indicator to look at each seller and how often they have a sale? Can't remember if Patrick bros ever have........just a thought
ACE LOFTS Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 Agree, If all these foreign birds are so fantastic, why dont/cant they sell them on their own doorsteps? The mind boggles! Stick to the Andy Galley sale as its the winners that are being sold. Good Luck. every body is saying this but i bet u walk away with a foreign bird over the weekend
