On a real sombre note, does any one thing that all the 'Negatives' slanting the DAFRA is doing our sport any good at all!

Further, the silliness of drawing from 'Between the Lines' and embroidering falsehoods, really puts our fancy in a good light, let alone one of decent folks just wanting to enjoy their sport!

When DAFRA, and the likes, actually read these senile quotations, and innuendos, which there is a great possibility, when they have their attention drawn to them. I WONDER JUST WHAT THEY THINK. They possible just chuckle at us and thinks, 'Silly little sausages' at best. But as an organisation we need their’ help and support, and above all their PERMISSION to fly a bird ANYWHERE! Thus I think that with a bias, a norm of human nature, things can or could well be prolonged. And that’s at best! Some have a funny response when their 'Noses' are put out, especially needlessly!

I'm not say for a moment that that is, or will be the case, but we certainly aren't doing our cause any good whatsoever by blatantly trying to demean them and called them liars, incompetent and useless. After all we -LIKE them - are only wise AFTER the fact! And then they have to be accounted for more than just us, indeed the whole of the UK, then time to give over I feel and only spout sensible, helpful, realism! JMO

No I can't agree with you on this one, Roland, we were wise before the event.

H5N1 is and always was a disease of poultry. It started in a poultry flock in this country many years ago. Yet that trade is almost a worldwide free-for-all.

DEFRA is and always was the wrong government agency to be the lead agency in an animal / human health disease issue as H5N1 has become. Because DEFRA have a conflict of interests - they are there to protect agricultural exports - and it is far too easy for them to believe their own hype and underplay of issues in a attempt to protect agricultural exports. Poultry trade almost unrestricted, but keep your parrots and pigeons at home.. and watch out for those wild birds.

They have continually sought to lay blame in the wrong quarter. Someone once said you can fool some of the people ... until something leaps out of the bushes and bites you square on your public face, and if what I think has happened, has happened, there's going to be more than us 'just' saying it.

Fine Bruno, I must be wrong then... No one here is slagging them off! Nor calling them incompetent etc. Let alone saying how and why or what they should have done, or be doing! Further, as you all knew well before they did, why someone didn’t just tell them, beginning of January would have done just fine, and it's a marvel that they have everything at their finger tips and whatnot... Yes I agree then they are the daft ones and we are the clever ones, strange how they get paid etc. and we don't - now that must be fraudulent somewhere - . And another sad thing I didn't know, and apparently nor them, but you did Bruno, and that is that they shouldn’t  have had the job in the first place!

But what I really can't get my head around is, 'If they don't matter, and we aren't beholden to them as to whether we fly any where or not, why don't we all take great delight in sending them Emails telling them to get stuffed. Golly that will make Peter Bryant’s job a lot easier and simpler.

But surely being as they have been given the job, whether they should or not is irrelevant, THEY do have it! Now I am missing something else here... As we are only a small minority in regards the whole of the UK, and our shores that do need protecting etc. The European law says 'Every Member has the right to defend the country as and how they deem best’. So though even as according to us they are wrong, does that mean we don't have to abide DAFRA's rules etc.? Will spend the rest of the day pointing out via posting Emails, that as they are half wits and incompetent and we all know better they can ....... and that as they SHOULDN'T have been given the job in the first place, their rulings are not biding. There, that's much better and simpler. But my point again Bruno wasn't at all about what you replied. I was just saying that regardless what we think or know, does it do our cause any good slagging them off constantly!

I don't think it is slagging-off Roland, it's justifiable ctiticism. That criticism isn't just happening here,  it's widespread.

DEFRA is a government department and even government ministers are criticising the Department's performance in this outbreak. If there is individuals singled out for criticism, it's ministers in charge of, and heads of departments. The Department is also guilty of misleading the public and parliament thro withholding all the information known to it, that imported poultry products could have introduced H5N1 to this country. They failed to disclose this I believe thro conflict of interest, they see themselves here to protect agriculture and exports, whatever the cost. They compromised the safety of the food chain in Britain and compromised the Agencies whose first responsibility is toward's maintaining Public Health. Simply because they could not admit that they were wrong, that the poultry industry was a more likely cause of spread rather than the 'maybe, could-be' routes that they chose to close down, like us.

An typical example of that thinking is pigeon racing: stopping channel racing from France in 2006 a few days after France declared itself an AI-free country, i.e. we were racing there during the 30 day surviellence period, after an H5N1 outbreak, but as soon as that period ended with no further outbreak, and all restrictions in France were lifted, DEFRA stopped us racing there ... not France.

Couldn't agree with you more tho on the email bomb syndrome. Pointless and puts the people negotiating for us on sticky ground with the people they are negotiating with.
