pam2john Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 the R P R A council had an emergency meeting Friday night to solve the problem of E T S and it was passed that E T S will be available for use by all R P R A members from 1st. July 2007. at last we have a sensible decision. :
Wiley Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 hi pam 2 john, ill had a guess that your near the southend area i maybe wrong. Thanks for your information this was put up on another thread on this website also but thanks very much
sapper756 Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Will be interesting to see how certain Scottish clubs who broke away from the SHU to the RPRA to escape ETS :-/ react to this decision.
mickmcgrevy Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Let me first of all say that I don't give a toss if it accepted or not. I can't see where the problem is, there will be clubs which will use it, and clubs which will chose not too. I can see where it may cause some ill feeling, but only in the local sprint clubs. For example, 2 fanciers side by side flying in the same club, both have stall traps fitted, one using a T3 and the other ETS. One lovely fine day 20 pigeons return from the race together, ten for each fancier all birds go through or into the stall traps as soon as they touch down. Now, this particular club pays out to the first 6 birds. Now who do you think will win the most prizes in the first six, ETS or T3? I suspect ETS 6 T3 nil. Personally I am not interested in sprint racing, so it will not effect me, but the sprint lads are getting a bunch returning at the same time regularly, but it will not happen from the distance races, so if they want it so be it. Mick
crazy pigeon boy Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 i think that people should keep to the old fashion timing in method it makes races much more fun
Lowfieldlad Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 It will make some happy all they`ve to do now is invent something electrical to send the pigeons for them.

pam2john Posted February 24, 2007 Author Report Posted February 24, 2007 Hi Wiley, you was right we do live in Southend:) and we will be using the ETS. we have seen it working in the USA and believe it or not it has not cost them members. every year there membership has gone up, with younger members joining. i was told it is because it has become more family friendly since ETS Pam

Guest Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 I notice you dont mention the rules fifer is that because there were nun at the time it was over 2 years before 6 were introduced and then the pres closed the meeting in a hurry but all this is old ground and i am realy not interisted any more and the fact that the council have aproved it on friday i would think that recomendation will go to the agm today for aproval and if pased so be it that doesnt take away the fact that certain indivduals used the disabilty act to brow beat the members to acept it where will it stop now ramps /toilets etc for clubs operating out of garages with very tight budgets might jus have opened a can of worms but the big guns wil make all the big bucks!!!!!!!!

YOU,RE OBVIOUSLY NOT UP TO DATE WITH THE DISABILTY DISCRIMINATION ACT, ANY PREMISES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC OR GROUPS "MUST" HAVE ACCESS TO DISABLED PEOPLE AND SUITABLE ENTRY AND EXITS,
Guest Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Thats the point iam making how will clubs pay for it and most couldnt even do if they could (a tiolet /ramp in a 19ftx9ft garage i would like to see that ) it will finnish some clubs more members lost ah-well
pigeonscout Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 I just telephoned 4 men from my club who said they would leave the sport if ETS was passed and ask them when they were having their clearance sale. If all the talk about leaving the sport that was done before it was passed comes true then there will be clearance sales by the thousands.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Are you sure that they are real pigeon men.??? I am amazed at some pigeon men, they still dont realize that at the end of the day it is just a modern day pigeon clock and not some magic drug that is only available to selected fanciers.
Pompey Mick Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 If ETS means that disabled people will be able to compete in a sport on an equal footing with able-bodied people then surely this should be a positive move for the Pigeon fraternity. We should be able to attract members from the ranks of the disabled who would love to be able to compete genuinely with no allowances having to be made. The sport of pigeon racing can be very fulfilling to people with severe disabilities, Jed Jackson was a great example, along with Rabbie Stoddart, and if ETS opens the door on the world of Pigeon Racing for people with disabilities then perhaps this news shouldn't be greeted with as much doom and gloom as we are reading.
