Guest CS Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Do you let Young birds out in the morning if there is old birds race on the same day?. or leave them in the lofts?... For us, always leave youngsters in the lofts when old birds are racing on the day, let them out next day....

peterpau Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Keep mine in race days but i know a boy who used to take 'em to the cattle market and let 'em out with the race birds as a trainer
Guest Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Question is maybe a bit too general. No many racebirds whizzing about Central Scotland at 0600am Saturday morning; even the 1st races don't normally liberate in the Borders till 0830-0900 and these birds are an hour and a bit away from me. No they go out. Different story in English Midlands maybe? A lot more race birds, going over a lot earlier, and in every direction. Yes, I'd keep them in.
tubbles Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 When the young birds are flying i tend to keep them locked safely in the loft on Saturday & sunday. This year i have made a flight(aviary) the full length of the race shed and will put a bath in on Sunday's and just let the youngsters in there to do what they want. Will also be able to do this with the old birds too. 8) of course all good plans fall apart sooner or later so who knows, i may end up letting them out sundays perhaps after eight inland races as not so many birds go over me from the channel season. I have never let youngbirds out on Saturdas though.
