At what day before the race on the Saturday would you stop training your birds, or would you continue right up till the thursday, based upon your tosses being 40 miles, no short tosses are available.

Hi Tammy,

for me it would be dependant on what the previous Saturdays race had been like, what the training had been like during the week, and what the race distance and weather forecast was for the coming Saturday. ie; if they have had a hard race / hard training schedule, I would ease off by the Wednesday to give them time to build for the coming race. If they have had an easy previous race, and tail-winds all week, then Thursday would be included for training also! In my opinion, you have to feel the condition of your team and take appropriate measures accordingly.

Hi Tam,

1st race on Saturday, then I would train upto and including thursday. I never train on a Basketing day (usually Friday but sometimes this can change in the UNC!)

if you mean up to your first race mine is normaly two days before the first race. but if you mean do we train in between racing then its not at all for me as i fly mid week and that do the training for me

Tammy i would train the up to thursday then keep them in friday,i dont see the point feeding them up on thursday to let them out friday morning as birds should have plenty food in the friday morning..
