There's always next week Ben.  ;D

I always give the bird its position in the race, Ben. Well up or well behind, I'm always glad to see one, and at times when they are going over in droves, any one will do!   ;D

Better luck next Saturday.

Although I am as "chuffed" as all you forum members when you do win.  Don't you think that figures competing, should be displayed?  i.e.  If you are in a club that has 10 members, and the birds sent to the race total 123. You simply add these figures to the result.  e.g. I was 1st, 3rd & 4th from Hereford 10/123.  This surely

paints a clearer picture! ;)  Vic.

Agree with that Vic, in first race we were 1st when 7 members sent 119 birds and in the second one we took the first 3 when 10 members sent 169 birds.

17 members sent 376 pigeons, finished 10th. Sent 24 cocks all sitting, all home. These are now on w/hood so hope for a steady improvement.

Vic I believe in theory that that should apply when 'Selling' and it shouldn't be so much the 'Onus' on the buyer. But unfortunately no one can in this day and age look after the opposition, as they can't set their standards either. If a club only has 6 members and the club sends 65 birds, I personally can't deem it fair to distract in any way the merit of the win. It is their fault, and they would have probably still win against more, or even better opposition.

If I was buying birds I'd be a lot more keen and sensitive as to where their location was, and how well they flew against better located birds. May well be for instance that though only 45 birds were entered by a club, and that fancier / birds also showed up well against better favoured locations then their merit is acheived. So I feel it would be - personally unfair to distract from their merit of flying a good bird JMOT's

Agree with Vic and Roland's posts.  :)

Wind, distance, members and birds competing should be 'standard disclosure'. But a Winner is a Winner.

Each race really is a unique event with its own unique circumstances - even from the same race point - as 30 minutes can make a difference to the circumstances the birds will meet on the road. So in my opinion, quite difficult to draw comparisons between different races,

Although, no sprint merchant! I do like to give them a run for their money. Racing midweek and Saturday, into a not too favourable position. I have raced in 3 races to date, and have not been out of the first six, average birdage over 300. Members today, 19, Birdage 360. I hope to improve  as the distance increases. ;)

(I have even decided to put some beautiful hens into the fore, that haven't raced since ybs) Let's see what happens eh! Desperate Dan. ;) Vic.

I think birdage can be deceiving, in our club most members only keep a few birds as most live in property with small gardens, we only have 1 member who flies on an allotment, most of the others send between 10- 15 birds, I have seen results were 6 members have sent 240 birds but does that make it a good club, not necessarily even though the birdage is high for the membership, so thats why I think birdage is deceiving.
