Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 when i saw this heading i thought you were talking about pigeonpete and harky ;D but good to see that some sort of training truck is available as the nearest one to me was in larkhall but this has not been in use for a few years now, in fact our own club used to have its own training van, before my time though, but this folded because of apathy, some members wanted to train their own others were never ready in time and some would not take a turn in the van, just wish i could drive because i think a club van would be excellent , think the closest training van is the one that alf uses but still to far away for me with having no transport of my own [ that big monkey could come and get me ], i dont have a problem getting my birds trained because the man two doors down and my brother work in edinburgh and my birds go with them , a bit far to begin with but have no choice, good to see when folk try and help with training

Roland Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Use to several time arrange to pick up and take clubs and anyone else's birds for free... was pretty hectic and took a good morning plus to go back round and deliver their baskets as persuaded. Next time, a bit embassared like, I said ' Just give me a treat'! Never got even a thankyou, let alone a drink ... I and even went to one ole guys home at 6 O'clock in morning to fetch his birds... then back twice more as you reckoned he wasn't quite ready, the the last time he said 'Eh shalln't bother mate'! (Then later admitted he's mate was getting in some extra training! Last but once I said 'Any one ready, or leaving birds at the homes between 7am - 7 30am Will pick up the birds and transferr them into the training panniers, 25p a bird.... was a wash out after they's scout around and see if collectivately they could save money! So I was persuaed to take them in their baskets and I said 'OK just £2 a crate'! You couldn't get the trap down hardly they were so full... 3 crate and about a 110 birds. I told them My van was having will the uneven wieght distribution and was frightened the shock orsorbers or suspection would give way so was just taking me own in future.
