LEICESTER RACE

I would like to know why Midlothian fed liberated at 7.05 yet all the other scottish feds that were at leicester did not start liberating till around 10.30 was the weather conditions not suitable as the forcast i was getting was fog from leicester right up past ripon can anyone enlighten me on this as the returns for a lot of members was not good

Thanks alf but what i am trying to find out is the reason why it was almost 3 hours before anyone else began liberating what forecst were the other controllers receiving from ther contacts

NOT SURE MATE BUT WE DID'NT LIBERATE TILL 11.45 AND I HAD 11 OUT OF MY 12 WITHIN AN HOUR AND A HALF OF TIMING MY 1ST BIRD

our birds were held because we did not think the weather was appropriate for an early release

Thanks tammy the first birds were on time for the first 15/20min birds came well then the stopper came on then the birds srarted to struggle home with a lot of birds missing at night

i have a lot of friends up in scotland,and they were racing with the snrpc from wanstead flats,these are well known and some past winners of nationals up there and this is there slant on things.

snrpc up at 7.00am,midlothian up at 7.30am,about 70-75miles further up the road at leicester,and the full convoy going full pelt with a south wind.

fair chance they will meet up and come up the road together the midlothian fed have the same race controller as the snrpc,and with every other fed sitting at leicester until later i and a lot of fanciers are drawing only one conclusion,god help the birds trying to go west.

that race controller should resign as he has a conflict of duty,to one or the other,and now we had hundreds if not thousands of pigeons put up in fog or mist to satisfy this conflict.

if i raced in midlothian i would ask for his resignation and if i raced in the west side of the snrpc i would also be asking fot it.

we can all make and forgive mistakes but when it hurts the birds they cant speak but we can and we must speak up for them.

The SNRPC race was a good race with many fanciers having 100% returns

On another thread on this forum a member of a very successful partnership in Scotland mentions he lost good young birds that had being coming well from the same race point so don't kick the "race controllers"  apart from "Tammy" of course kick him if you like.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All

 

I live in Leicester and have to admit it was a fair morning, nice and clear, blue skies, very light south to south east wind.

 

I do not think there would have been any problem at all at the racepoint, although just North of Leicester between Coalville and Loughborough about 10 miles from the racepoint there is a valley which can get very misty/foggy early morning. However I would expect experienced birds to just fly straight over the top.

Try finding out what if any north road feds liberated at a time that might have interfered with your doos Tyson. Clashing with old birds happens as well. Put it this way birds liberated later scooted up the road (I am assuming your birds were coming north) so why did your birds not join them even if the weather was not great when they were liberated it was still a "blaw hame" so we are looking for something else if you guys have been unfortunate enough to lose a few doos!
