pigeonscout Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Cut the top of the last 5 flights let them dry out for a week them pull them. Once they grow back they hold them the rest of the year. So they body molt then drop flight 1 2 3 4 5 and stop. This is what they are doing in USA now.

Ronnie Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Well many are into the 'Beiche System' now with a good feed back.... Don't know how Ronnie and Albear would cope with it though lol. Roland you got anymore details on that system?Ive been searching on google with no luck on how it works .A lot of people are saying how good it is and you have to lock the birds down for two month's .I like the idea of training early any info would be appreciated mate .
stevebelbin Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Does anyone know, on the power moult system, when you cut the flight, how long it takes for them to dry out b4 you are able to pull them?? And do you pull them on both wings or would pulling one side force the bird to drop the other side??!!
swilcox Posted June 5, 2007 Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 I have tried something very similiar with 10 hens but i didnt pull the flight or cut it, will let you know how it works later in he year. Stuart

pigeonscout Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 i fly the y/bs natural, last year i won 9 x 1sts 8 x 2nds 8 x 3rds 7 x 4ths club 2 x 1st fed 2 x 2nd fed 1 x 3rd fed and many other fed positions. also took 1st,2nd and 5th in the y/b championship. Great results, Can I ask what flight they where on for the last 4 races and were the results all won in the same club or where you racing in two clubs. The reason im asking is to see if they where still winning at the last 4 races.
Guest Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Is anyone flying YB naturally these days and winning regularly?? Alan I have never practised darkness but I do breed around december and they tend to clean up nicely like the darkness. I have won plenty of trophies and averages etc in my club last few years against the darkies. Key is plenty of basket training - as soon as you stop they fall apart! Also if some want to pair up and sit eggs they will hold thier flights right till the end of racing.
Tony C Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 When do fanciers take there youngbirds off darkness? Stuart 90 days (or there abouts) before the last y/bird race I intend to send to.
