richard Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 Does anyone know the hours of darkness for NFC Tarbes Cheers Richard
Guest ben Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 hi Rich, I think it`s 10 till 5 and if anything has forced it`s way up close to nantes around now,it`s going get picked up by a ripsnorting sw wind heading your way. Game pigeon`s with only 10-11hours flying will keep coming as dark closes in, and your birds will not have the same dread of the channel as others ,with them seeing it every day of their lives. Keep watching my friend,NFC BLUE RIBBONED days are so very special, and the birds are still coming on,Best of Luck. Fair play to the convoyer,he could well take a beating if things do not go right, but what a pair of b**s that chap got, good for him.
richard Posted June 30, 2007 Author Report Posted June 30, 2007 Thanks for that lads, just checked it out on the NFC site. I hope your'e right Ben. I'd love to see one tonight, that would be some pigeon, but at the moment the Channel our side is thick with fog so i am not optimistic, but I will still be waiting between 9 o, clock and 10. Best of luck to anyone else who has birds in this race, as you say it is a very special event Cheers Richard
Guest Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 Ben, old mate spot on................it's dark wet shut out and windy down here in Tiverton but if the forecasters are right it may be possible for the birds to get to the pond about 8 /8.30 and then only bird on the day is a possibility for some happy sole. Though the race will be won up country if the wind holds tomorrow, cause it wan't so strong in France early on
Pompey Mick Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 i remember getting one from Pau in torrential rain way back in 1965. it took me 25mins to get the bird into the loft ,he was like a drowned rat and just sat on the loft arriving at 6.00pm after at 6.00am lib It was very strong SW wind and I believe they clocked just after 4.00pm in the Weymouth area. But they were hitting the coast much earlier in the day and it would have been a lot brighter than it is now (19.30) It's very gloomy and still spitting with rain now, but you never know, you still have to be watching.
