Simeon Turner Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 I was wandering if anyone could help me On Tuesday I lost 4 latebred young birds off my loft in Sheffield - I have had one reported today by a non-fancier in Litherland, she found the poor little bugger floating on a piece of wood in the canal She has taken the bird home with her and put it in box with some water and rice/lentils etc. She thinks the bird is injured as it couldn't fly Is there anyone in that area that would be prepared to collect the bird from her, so we can at least give it a chance and also show the non flying public we do care. I will reinburse any costs incurred. Please contact me either on the site or by PM if you would be prepared to help me out. Many thanks in anticipation. Simeon Turner

Simeon Turner Posted July 15, 2007 Author Report Posted July 15, 2007 Just thought I would give an update re the pigeon. Jimmy Bulger picked it up this morning and rang me to say the youngster is flown out and got a small injury, but should be fine and ready for travelling (by courier) in 3 or 4 days. :) I phoned the lady who reported it and she is made up that the bird should be ok. Thanks very much again Jimmy - I owe you one. Simeon

kev01293 Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 well done to jimmy for making the effort to go and collect a stray yb from a non fancier who was good enough to rescue it, he,s done simeon a favour and showed joe public that not all fanciers are heartless and most of us do want our lost birds back, if we all pulled together im sure we could be of more help to each other at times like this kev ps i had a pigeon reported in southampton and when i arrived to collect it the lady was very suprised as she had been told that when a racing pigeon gets lost that its no longer wanted by the fancier and that she was wasting her time reporting it as the fancier wouldnt want the bird back any fancier such as jimmy who collects strays from non fanciers is doing a great P R job for the fancy well done mate
Pego Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Great stuff guys, and good to see an update on the collected bird. Lets see more of the same.
