Guest Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 hi, do u think there is any use in having the rule that birds should be wing stamped or have a phone number ring on them, when so many obviously dont respect this ruling? i have so many each year come in ,i think that federatons should make a stronger stance on this and demand u do it or else and suspend flyers who neglect this rule ...isnt it about time summut was done instead of saying when u report them...(rpra)oh aint they naughty..wah?....i think wots the point?...wots ur feeling on this?.....paul
Guest Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 in my opinion its a wate of time whenever you phone them they dont wont to know had pigeons lie in baskets for weeks waiting to get picked up used to report them as well same thing ,now i just dont let them in and when they do came in there caught straight away and shown the door no matter what age saves a lot of hassle and no chance of catching anything either ;D ;D ;D
Guest Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 on basketing night the marker should have a quick check of the wing, no stap the bird doesnt go.
Guest Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 i just reported a bird other day and untill today didnt get hold of the owner who said...(usual)its a well bred bird m8...ii laughed and said if its so good y dont u want it back?...do they think nobody has heard that line b4.....paul
Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 I get birds in all the time with and without wing stamps but make sure I always report them it's not hard to call shu or rpra and give the details. Maybe a rule that should be brought in is if you report a pigeon and it's not collected within 2 to 3 days then the finder should be paid by the owner of maybe a £1 for every day it's in there loft if still not collected then they should be suspended and it means the finder gets his money back for food ect ect that the bird has ate in the finders loft. Just a thought
Guest Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 :o i think £5 per day might spur them into action :P andy
ALF Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 GOT ALL MINE STAMPED ALWAYS DONE IT AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO
Roland Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 RPRA rules state that if you have it reported then after discussion, if the 'Finder' says he won't cull or even let it go, then YOU have to send for it.... Up before the beak if you don't. it is an RPRA rule I believe.
Guest Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 They should all be wing stamped,if you're not prepared to be responsible for them you shouldn't send them.
Roland Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 They should all be wing stamped,if you're not prepared to be responsible for them you shouldn't send them. Spot on Chrissy, and the main gripe is 'Cost' which they incurr for breeding far too many birds to supposedly offsett their loses. Which in simple terms means, bad management and simply bred to Lose. Have 13 from the 14 I started training this last two days, a mite early for me, but as I was a bit later breeding - usually about first week in April, I was getting them down proper on eggs in the third week. So they have gone a week early. Lost two of the top, two culled, and one tonight hit a wire. but hope to compete both ways sucessfully as I promised myself I will race the y/ b's this year throughout, usuall one if that.
