Portsmouth 07.00,  Almost cloudless blue sky, very light SW wind, Clear.  Strong moon visible high in the sky.

Central Scotland - clearing up nicely from overnight strong winds and heavy rain. High, broken cloud, but that cloud is moving at a fair speed from the West, so strong winds up there.

Its a very long time ago that I was told this - back at school. The moon is always there in the sky, the reason we usually don't see it tho in the daytime sky is because its obscured by clouds. Its also more obvious at night as it reflects light from the sun in a sunless sky. Micks pic does show the moon in a cloudless sky.

pentland hills on the lothians side very clear , [looking now at ski slope from my window] would love to see a pic from the other side     but i would say the wind is now calming a bit and looking quite good at the mo,    s,w wind
