I think in some cases it's the syndrome of puting their mouths into action before their "Brain" is in gear. People have the right to sell just as I have the right to buy so buy up or shut up.

Every year more and more people leave the sport but more and more birds are sold what does that tell you?

 

It tells "me" some doomen are putting their hands in their pocket yet again to replace birds they had bought previously that did'nt do the job. Or as we daft scots would say "they were nae bloody good".

 

But you are right in saying you have every right to spend your money on what you like. Fools - money - parted. Does it ring any bells Fair Play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has to be true... but don't know about the 'Shut Up' bit, more like 'If you don't want to, then don't'!

Yet one must also be pre - warned and have it explained to them, that some 'Feather Merchants' have no scruples what so ever, and too many are cone merchants'. Yet we have all seen the local flyer that isn't to hot, just average at a pinch say, -and even in a favourable location - that has the 'Name' enhancing his birds' Known him for.... and most is about his credabilty, hen to say that he can honestly say that any one buying of him will be getting ' birds tried and tested (not to what standard ) and ' ...he wouldn't do anyone a bad turn' etc. Yes birds are mostly crap, bred a 'Swallow' evry other summer. So yes Phone the local Sec, and / or good local flyer and ask! Yes too often the black and white static are 'Grey' .... but then you have been told that when reading mostly. Read the 'Ads' with a sarcastic air, and if hard to poke fun, then you may have just hit a good honest fancier. BUT unfortunately they are in the lesser %!

Have to agree Me, and sadly the impresson is that you have to buy more and breed more to contend and have birds left at seasons end!

Too much inbreeding for starters when very few understand it!

I will have a big team if I compete next season, 12 old birds and 12 yearlings, But I more than expect in a normal season that some should be making way for the y/b's bred!

I personally believe that Swilcox is genuine and does try very hard to sell what he believes to be the truth!

He also is very willing to help causes, and as such I'd personally would have no scruples from having birds of off him. *-Don't know about buying them lol 8) ;D ;D

i do agree with some of the post in some parts, but as for stuart he may sell a few more than others but can you show me any buyers who are not happy with what they bought..?????...I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!!!!

AND THE POINT BEEN BIRDS WITH LESS THAN MEDIOCRE RESULTS ARE BEEN ADVERTISED SOLD ON THIS SITE. fair enough individuals selling there own birds to down size etc. but regardless of donations due to selling pigeons this is highly unethical ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,spare me i dont need the drivel or i would wear a bib,  but there is too much crep out there  with out adding to it.....................

I have never bought birds off Stuart Wilcox so have no angle on this .He advertises good quality birds and gives a price nobody has a gun held to thier head to make them buy them.If Mr Wilcox donates then were is the problem if people think they cannot afford then do not buy live within your limits i have too .

Two things, I believe that it's good if it offsets the cost of the 'Running of the site' for Richard, and believe as such he has every right!

Yes I agree, not necessarily just on here, but overall EVERY where pigeaons are over priced, and yes far far to much crap sold ... as 'Names' off load the crap they purchased that did no good. And the Crap flyers Legends' in their own mind are endorsed by 'Names' that should, indeed do know better.

Dear All

 

I have let this thread runs its course so that I can get a clear and balanced view from everyone and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to post.

 

Firstly on the balance of replies it seems that most people are in favour with me continuing to sell pigeons on Pigeon basics providing money is donated to the site and for that I will continue. I will do my best to find another super pigeon like last year with 100% going to the site.

 

So I will answer a couple of Questions

 

Quality

I do my best to ensure that the pigeons I sell have health, balance and good feathering with what I see as good breeding (pedigree), if they have results then I put them down, if they don’t I don’t!!! I take the point that 30th from 2000b don’t make it a champion but it does demonstrate that it has bred a reasonable pigeon or too. I suppose many could dress these results up but I just put it down as it is.

 

One thing I do try and stick too is that if a pigeon isn’t good enough for my own loft I wouldn’t expect anyone else to have it!!!!!

 

The nicest thing is that 15 or so people called me over the weekend and I have received 4 pms from forum members saying that they have WON with pigeons bred from my selection so that certainly out ways the knockers!!!

 

Price

 

Now this is the area that courts the most controversy, I price the pigeons based on the value 6 of its children, might sound crazy but if I have a son of 2 champions then 6 g-children let say are worth £25 each then I price him at £150 providing the quality is as mentioned above, if it’s a g-son of two champions then the ybs would be £10 each as they would be gg-children so that would be £60!!!

 

If im selling pigeons for someone else then they set the price!!!!

 

Of course pigeons come along that demand a higher price due to breeding, strain and popularity etc, now I have never wanted PB members to feel I only put the cheaper pigeons on this forum so they all go on, that means I can be loyal to the people that are loyal to me and give them 1st bite of the cherry if they choose.

 

As for the g-son of Wittenbuik  and Turbo, the father and mother of this pigeon has a breeding record equal to Jester and Carrie or the great shadow from the same strain, children of these would start at £1000 and up!!! I have done my homework and purchased children of the top breeding pair in Holland from the Gaby family and offered it for sale at £500, it cost me £450!!!! If I had put a son of Shadow on at £500 people would have shouted cheap cheap, so everything has a balance and I will try and maintain that balance.

 

So to those that have written words of support I thank you.

 

To those of you that have questioned me, your right to as there are many that abuse pigeon selling but if I deserve credit for my actions then all I can ask is that you apply a balance and give me that credit.

 

Question me to what you know not to what you may think!!!!!!!!!!!!
