Roland Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 If you want some half decent pigeons you would be far better off both results wise and money wise just contacting some of the genuine fanciers on here who are on the results sheet consistently. Yes half decent being the operative word. Yes some genuine fanciers I'd trust and feel they were 100% ... But they's probably breed you a pair only. Can't see many letting go of anything they deem as pretencious 'Breeders' of merit. I be happy with Louella after all they have breed National and international winners for some and FED and Club winners galore for many! JMO
xtccock Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 well me two penneth loella created a niche in the market cheap pigeons available almost straight away and been bred down from the best performing birds on the planet or lofts there is no denial to this, if you wanted pedigrees you pay for them but it is the law of averages that something will come good and when those birds do come good what price do the owners put on them ? loella supply to demand and to think i was only a few quid behind them dreams, and also it is good place to start for novices cheap n cheerfull to learn the ropes before they get there hands bit off , and just remember a good pigeonman can race a pigeon , any tom dick n harry with a loose wallet can home a pigeon.......
swilcox Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 xtccock Maybe wise words maybe not! But sure as eggs are eggs pigeons that are bred from none performance and non flown pigeons will end up with a reduced homing ability. Many novices get cuaght by the 99 per 6 dream but most get TROUBLE IN A BOX!!!!!! There death rate is very very high!!! Stuart
Back garden fancier Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I bought 6 last year ( Van Hee ) and still have all six in loft. Raced last year as youngsters and this year as yearlings. Will be getting more next year.
thunderboult Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 hey swilcox i had a hen home from palamos this year 753mls bred from a great grand son of de barcelona+inv.spirit so no loss of homing instinct there also since 2004 i've had about 40 birds from louella and not a single 1 as died ,well not in the loft anyway, it's all down to what ind. fanciers prefer some like louella some don't
xtccock Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 well swilcox you have just blown the inbreeding theory right out of the water not to mention the fact that you honestly beleive that all pigeons have to be bred out of champions to be worthy dear dear where as thou been searching. just remind fanciers on this forum please how jester and carrie came about and what they have produced, and what m+d evans say about these birds £99 pound for 6 loella with no gaurentee how much for 6 of yours ? and are they gaurenteed??
Back garden fancier Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Louella have updated sale list today, what ever you think they sell fast. There are some nice looking birds, I like the look of the Marcellis but they seem to be out of fashion now?
Guest Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 JUST HAD A LOOK AT THEIR SITE LOOKS BETTER WITH THEY PICTURES SOME LOVELLY LOOKING PIGEONS ON THERE

JMO Have none of the genuine fanciers on here bred any decent winners then?,and do you think that Mr wilcox or Louella let their best birds go either?
Guest Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Have none of the genuine fanciers on here bred any decent winners then?,and do you think that Mr wilcox or Louella let their best birds go either? good point chrissy
Back garden fancier Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Thing is, how do Louella know which their best birds are, as they don't race? Logically a racing fancier will not sell their best birds unless packing up, so you have more chance of getting a good bird from Louella?
xtccock Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 and is it not loella that predomantly buy lock stock n barrell

Roland Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Have none of the genuine fanciers on here bred any decent winners then?,and do you think that Mr wilcox or Louella let their best birds go either? Well I'd say that ANY good breeders are kept by Both Louella and Stu.... they both want their customers to have winners. But of course there is a price that would suffice.... but I'd say out of reach of us mortal men lol
xtccock Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 then in that case how many birds does stu wilcocx carry /stock against results and visa versa for loella , the point been it is the law of averages , a very difficult game to play , but then who is gunna deliver the day after tommorow,
Guest Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 So is it better to buy cheap rejects or expensive ones?
Guest Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 cheap expensive they still can get lost ,hawked or whateva
Back garden fancier Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 My point is how do Louella know which their best breeders are? Unless people ring them and tell them they've had a winner, they have no idea. Therefore they must be selling good birds without knowing which they are?
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 So is it better to buy cheap rejects or expensive ones? No matter which you buy there is no guarentee that either will be winners.
xtccock Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 well true back garden because not all could be bothered to tell them the fact they still trade is a testament cosidering the amount of flyers there is. CHRISSY .. IS IT BETTER TO BUY CHEAP REJECTS OR EXPENSIVE ONES? you are asking for advice ? you got too much money.
Guest Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 No matter which you buy there is no guarentee that either will be winners. Exactly and no one is ever going to sell u anything that is any good to them, but since alot of people on here can't seem to spend their money fast enough they can buy any of my racers for £200 each, hows that?.Of course none of them have flown but I'm sure they must have some vague race results back in their breeding somewhere and I know that at least 4 of them had a great, great grandmother on their fathers side that came 285th at Bacellona, they all have 2 legs and a beak, come in assorted colours and can find their way from the roof back into the loft all by themselves on a good day without a map. Will go like hot cakes on here ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
xtccock Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 its nice to read mr s wilcoxs praises on pipa site and i qoute (READERS MAY BE INTERESTED TO KNOW THAT 1ST NATIONAL POITERS IN ENGLAND WAS A GRAND DAUGHTER OF B964605752 NADINE WHO IN TURN IS A GRAND DAUGHTER OF LAURAAT BARCELONA) and the apple never falls far from the tree BULLSHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jimmy white Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 whether you pay £500 or get a gift bird ,, the main thing is the management of the birds
Roland Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Chrissy, Alf Bakers birds via Louella excelled and won National in Belgium. Our second International winner, and of course National Pau winner is pure Louella bred, from St. Vincent, Invincable spirit, Smagd 1 and 11. and Stamvater is possiblely the greatest stud of all time, the Northern dancer of the pigeon world. 1000's of Fed winners and club winners etc. are and have been from Louella stock. Likewise most Jansenns in this country, and Bussearts etc. are from Louella stock! etc. etc.
