thunderboult Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 i think most birds have the ability to breed tidy racers it's down to each fancier to find the right combination in the breeding loft and then be able to race them
Guest Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 no just a realist and a moocher ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 The 'Goldern Pair' are so elusive that they are seldom seen. Nearest you'd get is fallen apples .... nearer the tree the better! But no they are sold often. And in an entire clearance sale, they are mostley already spoken for or sold WAY before the sale, let alone 'Give Away'. JMO Again I agree with Frank. spot on here roland, i have been to "entire clearance sales" and know for a fact that not all the birds were there at the sale, the person selling them had obviously sold what he reckoned were his best moneyspinners first and was not maybe wanting to take a chance with them at auction, so entire clearance sales are not always a guarantee that you are going to get a chance of buying "the best", and I still say that nobody will sell a pigeon that is constantly breeding the goods no mater what amount of money is offered, I actually laugh now when I see somebody selling birds which are claimed to be producing winners all the time, gies a break and stop trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes, especially new comers who do not know any better and buy what they think are birds that are in some cases "guaranteed to breed winners" this is the most absurd claim I have ever seen, no bird can be guaranteed to breed winners and as soon as folk get wise to this the better off they will be, 99% of fanciers will give u birds if u ask and they will definately try and give u some decent birds, they are not just going to off load u with something they just dont want .
Guest WINGS 04 Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 WHAT YOU HAVE TO REMBER IS THAT WHEN YOU BYE PIGEONS FROM PPL THAT ARE WINNING WITH THEM YOU ARE BYEING THE BIRDS NOT THE MANS SYSTEM OF FLYING THEM
harky Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 my inkling is there gettin rid of stock they have deemed useless fair enough some maybe good but that cant be said for the vast majority of them.personally i would never sell anything that bred me a winner never mind winners there is an exception i was given a pair of stock birds by j mclean of newmains they have bred 6 winners that i know of 2 of them for me so just shows you some of the best things in life are free
Mark Bulled Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Could possibly be in a situation like me, where I have lost interest in sprint racing and want to concentrate more on my long distance stock and so will be looking to let go some sprint stock still breeding winners

swilcox Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Myself i started the season with 26 pairs of stock and nothing else, i had this number to breed a good number of young birds and that they have. But reality tells me that now i have racers to tend to as well so many breeders are a burden and must be cut to 12 or 16 pair at most!!! The birds have done nothing wrong and were good enough to be selected in the first place and now been sold at the price or less than was payed!!!! The pigeons i kept were the ones Raymond has leant me as those couldnt be sold anyway!!! Im now down to 18 pair!!! Overcrowding is a poisen!!!!! Stuart
Guest Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I can't imagine having 26 pairs of stock pigeons, Stuart. I've 4 pairs, but half of them have reached the end of their 5 year test period without leaving anything worth talking about, so their breeding days are over. I've already bought in 4 new pigeons, and I will be breeding from them, but I will not be classing them as stock pigeons, at the moment I intend to put them into the 2007 late bred race team, training throughout 2008 and racing 2009.

chichichi Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 we believe that people wouldn't sell birds that are breeding winners,,most of the stock birds for sale are birds that have not produced the goods,,,we only buy in young birds and also sell young birds only.....entire clearance sales are a different thing......if our stock doesn't breed the goods after 3 years they go to no one,,,,alot of people are selling birds on other peoples performances , , , if they are not winning for you tell the buyers....goodluck to all buying birds at the end of the season,,,,lottery,,,

As louella stated 'you can't guarantee winners, but improve the chances .... '
