sapper756 Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Get some young birds from a local fancier and enjoy them, start learning about them, Then the next year you can breed off them and race the youngsters. Good luck
Guest Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 ;D yes good luck billybob , where are you ?? andy 8)
billybob Posted May 4, 2007 Author Report Posted May 4, 2007 essex, thanks 2 u both thats what i willdo
Guest Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 ;D good question ??a lot depends on how deep your pockets are ? unless u keep a tight reign on things u could fill youre loft in no time ! i would be tempted to get 10 or 12 youngsters or latebreds (from the same loft) some one who flies well and local ish to you ? like Sapper said enjoy them learn about them , and all going well should end up with a few pairs to breed from next year . best of luck !! andy ;D
billybob Posted May 4, 2007 Author Report Posted May 4, 2007 ok thanks 4 advice, does anyone no of anyone in essex who has any young birds 4 sale thanks........................
Tony C Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 There is a young bird sale being held at the Dagenham Trades Hall (Charlotte Rd. Dagenham) this coming Sunday. I haven't any info as to the time but know that its advertised in this weeks fancy press. Perhaps someone can post the time of the sale.
Wiley Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 my advice is go too the two best lofts in your area, and ask to purchase 6 ybs each from there lofts, leaving you with 12 ybs so to say and would also help build a family,
billybob Posted May 5, 2007 Author Report Posted May 5, 2007 ok thanks,is there any fanciers near wickford essex on here .
BLUESTORM Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Hi Try to get hold of some John Halsted videos and dvds, simple to follow and good ideas on there you can pick up.
DJ Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 ask around your neighborhood billybob theres bound to be fanciers (people who keep pigeons in your area who would be happy to help you and give you advice) pm me if you need any help debbie
Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 billybob if you would be willing to ay carriage from scotland i will send you 6 latebreads down if you wish if you have rings you can send them if not i will put mine on if you are interested.
jupiter_19630 Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Billybob I live in Rochford. If you want to send over some rings I dont mind breeding you some latebreds for free. Only just started myself and been well chuffed with the help and advice I,ve had from fellow fanciers, so only too willing to put something back in.
billybob Posted May 17, 2007 Author Report Posted May 17, 2007 i havent got any rings mate where do i get them
Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 hi billy you need to join the rpra as u are in England and they supply rings
celtic Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 there must be fanciers down that way that can help you out, come on lads , we were all newstarts at one time, if anybody is local and can help, give him a break and save him the cost of carriage, i promised him a pair , and they are here for them no problem, but if someone local offered him a pair he could buy a couple of bags of feed instead of paying carriage.
jupiter_19630 Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 I,m going to breed him some and he wont have to pay any carriage. He could do with some rings though if any one has any spare as I only have a couple left that I need.
Okitsme Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Hi billybob I have rings that I got from RPRA, believe it or not, I have the rings but my loft is only coming on Friday. How eager is that. I am in South London
Okitsme Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 I know, but hey thats wot birds do to me. If you want some I will hand some over to ya. Regards
