I think any one who realy wants to race this one will nothing to do with other nat clubs and if you wait to try and suit every one we will never get it off the road

Yip I think we go for it tho next season may be too soon to attract decent birdage. 2009 may be better option

Bird ended up on Oseberg A oil platform, 130 kilometers northwest of Bergen, Norway.

Used it as an example of what can happen to a pigeon finding itself unable to fight against a SW wind in North Sea.

Made a mess of platform pic, double click and zoom+ for a better look at it.

Thought letter to BHW was suggesting all National clubs in GB put this race on their calendar?

yes bruno but no one can force anybody to do anything its up to the nat members at race meeting are you a member of a nat club bruno?

Wind over water is stronger than over land as there nothing to break it up probably sucks in everything in it's path. Over land caused basically by heat from the earth rising upwards water tends to be much colder so same type of thermals may not exist.

Member of SNFC. Did remark that this germany race proposal may have come a bit too late for GB National clubs to get to grips with for 2008. Frank, think its a matter of consulting rather than forcing, the membership of all the clubs on whether they'd like to see this on their race programme. I think it's a runner subject to being realistic on the difficulties the birds are likely to face on this race.

BE CAREFUL Doo.racer. This was a club of 40+ lofts (50+ members) just a few seasons ago. Most left suddenly. There are several good clubs around

Would like to know more. Will be up for a look before Christmas. What do you know of SNFC / SNRPC

i am not questioning the distance the bird flew. i am questioning the logic that seems to think that while poor lost birds can fly 700 miles in a day decent proven distance birds will not be able to negotiate their way home from frankfurt or somewhere similar. i am questioning the proposition birds do not like flying over water. water does not seem to have annoyed this pigeon. i am questioning fantasy and legend

im sure the irish fanciers would be up for it as we have to fly 2 channels when we fly from france . frankfurt distance for me is 770mls . a very big ask but what a pigeon you would have if you clocked!!!!!

Yes it would great if all partys get together and we could have this up and running for next year.prospect of this is realy exciting.
