Brasspenning, a line of Janssens, sprint to middle distance tend to be blues or light chequers.

sapper756 Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 is that it ? Only one way to find out however I crossed one with a Van Loon and I,m sending one of their offspring to the SNFC race this week 400miles, so will have to wait and see. it has already raced 370miles ;)
jim Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 BRASPENNING COCKS WON FOR ME UP TO 440 MILES 11 HOURS ON WING MESSAC JIM CUMBRIA
deanbruton Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 as previously posted braspennings are janssen based, which will win up to 500 miles depending what lines they are bred from. Mostley blues and cheqs with odd white flight and pied which tend to be breeders with a lot of white on them, hope this helps. what lines are the one you got
Pego Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 Braspenning crossed Van Loon scored twice for me at 520 miles. You never know until you try them.
Ronnie Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 I sent my Braspenning yearling hen to Alencon(350 miles to me) in the national and she clocked in.I think i was near the back but she did the distance no problem. Also bought some direct's for stock and the youngsters look great.

rockinrick Posted July 17, 2007 Author Report Posted July 17, 2007 not sure of the lines to this one but i am told its parents are fed winners and cost a pretty penny .

Tony C Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 not sure of the lines to this one but i am told its parents are fed winners and cost a pretty penny . Cup holders too going by the name ;D ;D
swilcox Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Les Nichols in Bristol spent a fortune on these and has regretted it ever since, tend to go missing when the going get tuff, the other family that he had has kepted him in there thank good. dont think they suit heavy feeders either!!!!! just my thoughts
Ronnie Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Les Nichols in Bristol spent a fortune on these and has regretted it ever since, tend to go missing when the going get tuff, the other family that he had has kepted him in there thank good. dont think they suit heavy feeders either!!!!! just my thoughts Funny you should say my uncle said exactly the same thing when he asked what the stock birds i bought where but he did say if you can keep them they are usually good birds its the keeping them thats the problem.
deanbruton Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 we have never had problems with them and its the only family we have except for a couple of other janssens. you do get bad and good in every strian, the other problem is how far you buy them from pigeons which have been raced because the homing instinct goes. Has for hard races most of pigeons clocked are braspennings one cock from bergerac 509 miles 18th welsh national 2005, from cholet 350 miles 11th welsh national, this year from huy 7th welsh south east neional 381 miles. These birds can and will win on hard days our results prove this for us and other fanciers who have birds from us.
swilcox Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 He got them direct from Bert at £500 notes each!!!!!!! In Bristol they havent cut the mustard probaly dur to the number of channel races we send too as i said Les won the National last year and on the same race lost 9 from 10 Braspennings, and they are gone again this year!!!!! I do believe they are pigeons that suit inland sprint racing as thats what Braspenning is in Holland!! Interestingly i have never come across a Braspenning pigeon winning in Holland
deanbruton Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 yes stuart got to agree with you, on the south east where we fly now only 4 channel races that's probably why, good inland pigeons but need a cross to fly channel, or use them to put speed into other channel birds. With regards to bert he is expensive with nearly all his good pigeons now sold, he only flys now descendents of pigeons sold to louella or pigeons we have in the stock loft. As i say good pigeons though we had them from 2000 looking for decent distance pigeons now to fly 500 plus miles.
deanbruton Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 with regards to them winning in holland, Leen Boers, camphius, grondelaar and beaverdam had pigeons from bert to name a few but it never comes to light when they win where they come from. The same thing happens in the uk pigeon fanciers never like telling where they got their pigeons from just in case someone else gets them.................
swilcox Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Dean Bert is big in the UK because of Louella and there advertising, in Holland not many even know him!!! In last years PPN auction a bird from him went for 60 euros when the average price was 500+ euro!!!!! Anyway if they win they win and that all that matters!! Strain are really that important its type and performance thats key!!!! Now 500 milers well that i can say i have the best but time will tell!!!!!!! :K)
just ask me Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 know pll that had these birds direct and paid pretty sum couldent keep into what they had all ready wich was mostlly birds given as gitfs and a few birds bought them selves they got rid after 2 seasons they raced some good prizes from long and short either way they didint seem to cut it
