part of the fun is having the odd character in the loft. when i started i bought a pigeon 'to do 250/300 miles a week' with a 'pedigree' to prove it.i called him 'parcelforce' as he was always 'next day'. in fairness he did do 300 miles a week the only trouble was the racepoint was only 60 .

None of you blokes  ;) ;) ;) :X :X :X are within the ball park,  :D :D :D one could say ?????? compared to me. (Very Very Very ???? close to home) Must have been bred of some of those pommy imports here, to be that slow  ;D ;D ;D 4 years is my best effort in a race etc & 18 months for a bird I once tossed from 26 miles  :D :D :D (Didn't quite make the stock loft) But he wasn't to know that,  ;)  when he decided to come home at his own leasure.

Enjoy

we had a cheq hen come home after 4 years and believe she had escaped from someones loft.. she was in imaculate condition so we bred from her and she bred a winner last year.. we only bred 2 from her and they were still left in the race team at the end and they had every young bird race.. watch out for them this year,, "55" and "56".. a lot of these slow birds go into other lofts and they keep them to breed off.. but some escape and remember after all them years..

A recent google search turned up the story of Percy, a racing pigeon that took 11 years to complete a race in Melbourne, Australia.

Read the article on: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/news/news373.html to find a link to a poem about 'Percy the Prodigal Pigeon'.

Has anybody got a similar story or know of any weird and wacky races in the pigeon world?

Still hope for some of mine that have gone missing then ;D
