I have been watching the site since they were eggs, to see how there feeding pattern was getting done, now that the 4 have hatched and they have been getting well fed and 3 have flown from the nest. I wonder how many rings will be in the nest, dont think they will ever tell you, or would they.

Thats going to be 6 around that area, frightening for the doos around that area.  :'( :'( :'(

No problems with hatching or rearing,no matter where nests are situated and this is down thanks mainly to racing pigeons, its only going to get worse,as the majority of the fancy appear to be highly indifferent to the plight of their birds, APATHY once again seems to be the order of the day.

i know how maney hatched on both seven bridges      two others found dead with mother

Chris didn't realise they are on the bridges. About 4 weeks back on a saturday morning when we had no race I was travelling across the new bridge at about 10.30ish on my way to visit the outlaws in Tredegar. To my amazement there were two batches about 10 in each batch racing home, flying directly parrellel and to the north of the bridge by only about 10 metres, just about HGV height. It just reminded me about the debate about birds following motorways, this confirmed it!! However percy might stop them! The git!

All four are on the wing, along with both parents, making a formidable team of Assasins just how responsible are these and more like them for young bird losses, considering  the factor of Young Perigrines being taught to hunt, and young pigeons being taught to home,in and around the same time.

Why quote silly myths?

Ask Bill Butterfield on you Alberta Site for instance... see the posts in this regards. If food is short they are the first  dinners. Bill and others have had their y/b's taken by the crows... 24 in one season.

Your good naturalist Dave Rogers will tell you, that they are hinderance value alone. As soon as Percy wants, he eats them too. Like the saying that Kestel etc. will keep the bigger hawks at bay because they squabble over territory.. another myth.

Yes we all see the crows chasing after the hawks... we also see sparrows chasing and nicking of crows! just don't be fooled, the hawks just play the game... and soon sort them when they want... If we had a hard snowy winter here ... like 4050 years ago, crows would be on the main menu for Percy, no two ways about that.

The Sparrow hawks have took the crows nest a 100yards from me!

they did a good job taking the Magpies nests for a couple of years... Now within a 100 yards  I have them blated Magpies 2/3 nests.... No crows, just the odd visit now and two sparow hawks nest.

Derby Web Cams and others are basically commercilism of Nature at its best,by so called Nature lovers, look how often the word"Donation" is mentioned, and D.V.D. for sale on a regular basis, absolutely nothing to do with Nature, young Perigrines rescued from ground on several occassions, reconstructed for T.V.cameras, whats natural about building breeding platforms on Cathedral,Greed and the filty lucre, are the reasons for these platforms, and any person who donates to R.S.P.B should really have a good think, as to what they are actually supporting bird life, or a circus.
