jimmy_84 Posted August 8, 2008 Author Report Posted August 8, 2008 i have let them know that they should get in touch with the rpra to let them know they offer this service
Fair Play Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 It would be better if they could strike some kind of franchise with Amtrak for the transport of pigeons.
jimmy_84 Posted August 8, 2008 Author Report Posted August 8, 2008 the problem people have is poor service from amtrak or so i thought so it would make no sense to do that as amtrak would still handle the birds and there for there would be a chance of horror
OLDYELLOW Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 well heres a suggestion if AMdeliverys posted a topic with a poster on then everyone on site could print one then put it up in there club house or print one per member and hand them out, if amdeliverys have give up now they be sorry as it's nearly silly season in the B.H.W everyone will be selling birds at the end of the season , and everyone will be buying birds and 90% will want delivering
jimmy_84 Posted August 8, 2008 Author Report Posted August 8, 2008 hi every1 view this please with mike's reply http://www.pigeonglobe.co.uk/forum/Blah.pl?m-1218219843/s-new/ http://www.pigeonglobe.co.uk/forum/Blah.pl?m-1218198433/
Roland Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 like we said DovesCot... not enough money in it to squabble over. Say what you like ... must protect my shares .... Amtrax do a bloody good job considering the Millions of birds they must have fetch and carried for the fancier on the past few years. Yes let the knocker knock... But the old adage of 'You can do without Tom, Dick, or Harry ... but how much better can we be with them. instead of bleating, whinging and moaning nonstop at every chance... try having a favourable word with the driver... works wonder and cost nowt ... they never have time for a cuppa so the pocket you still save a little... and every little helps at Amtrax prices lol ;D
Guest chrisss Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 i think with anthrax its down to the depot and driver i am lucky [now] they have moved the depot to luton[i think] and the driver we have now is bloody good [which means he will not last] my main problem with them is not all depots and drivers are that good at all, i have had amtrak go to pick birds for me with no boxes, they have lost birds, crushed boxes and sent them to the wrong end of the country, when i saw the ad for am i thought thank god for that, any serious threat to amtrak will be good and make them pull their socks up a bit,but why give up this time of the year, with a bit more publicty they will get more work than they can cope with
jimmy_84 Posted August 8, 2008 Author Report Posted August 8, 2008 not sure he know's about how our sport works and what time of year is best for him i have mailed him and i am hoping he sets this back up and makes it work
Guest chrisss Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 i hope so, all i heard were good things until they pulled the pin
Roland Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Amtrax don't need too much creaing off there profits... not a case where there is plenty of loot to be made. Still you all know this... just hope on a whim and a prayer for a mirical. No one ever posts ... outside of me ... just what will happen when Amtrax pull the plug. This I fear won't be long now... Then of course in reality, any competitor will have a free hand... But that's never going to happen, besides I feel that Amtrax will soon have to increase prices a bit more with the cost of fuel being what it is.... No need to report stray at all then so many will be happier. then again the Bigger Stud / feather sellers will arrange area deliveries, so just a little extra cost. The rest of us will have to get the tandam's out and make sure the misis is at the front - so she won't notice you're not peddling. 2years -3 years tops... then of course another 20%, 30% or more will pack up ... and more costs. Yet no one has bothered looking, for that magic wand.

There is not enough money in the transport of pigeons for two national companies to fight over or they would be doing it already CUSTOMER BEWARE there better be a good back up plan, if someone eats well into the profits of Amtrak that they deem it no longer viable and then they fizzle out then goodbye national courier service. AM Deliveries need to get the studs contracts, Stuart Wilcox posted on here some time ago that he spends over £15000 a year on Amtrak and they still muck him about, they are the guys they need to target if they are serious Apart from that you will get good and bad drivers in any company, accidents, excusses, cockups, networking problems, computer glitches, traffic works and accidents. The list is endless :'( :'( :'( :'( I know I have used most of them ;D ;D ;D
chocolate Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 i have used am deliveries second to none had 14 birds picked up at 3 30pm and they were at my loft for 5 35pm same day really cheap aswell
Roland Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 i have used am deliveries second to none had 14 birds picked up at 3 30pm and they were at my loft for 5 35pm same day really cheap aswell Yep, but seems that won't happen any more. So why don't we just tell Amtra to improve or get lost... No better to keep moaning I guess. I fetch most of my birds myself when reported, withing sensible reason regards time and distance. 200miles etc. each way even. But I worry, yes I really do, and dread the day when Amtrax says 'Ok and stuff you lot too... we are no longer able or interested to transport your birds'!

Guest mikkey Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 i used am deliveries twice a good friendly service but the birds were too long in carriage the 1st time i used them the birds were picked up at 6pm delivered at 4pm next day........ 2nd time birds picked up at 2pm delivered at 11am next day both times birds werent watered .........isnt it obvious that any animal in carriage over a certain amount of time would need water ?????
Roland Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 i used am deliveries twice a good friendly service but the birds were too long in carriage the 1st time i used them the birds were picked up at 6pm delivered at 4pm next day........ 2nd time birds picked up at 2pm delivered at 11am next day both times birds werent watered .........isnt it obvious that any animal in carriage over a certain amount of time would need water ????? No. They are van drivers, not welfare officers for the creature comforts zone. So, best to mention it, supply a galleon drum, and a water trough. Preferable not a paper or cardboard one... and hope that the go back into the box after being let out for a drink ;) ;D ;D Get real eh!
Guest chrisss Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 AM are going to give it another go - i am booking some in for this week can you confirm these guys are back mate?
Blue Chequer Pied Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 From the talks i have had they are back on - I am looking at booking some birds in tomorrow morning so i can confirm them. I am not sure how long he will trial it for but this is a genuine alternative to amtrack so i hope they get the business to continue. What area do they cover
Guest mikkey Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 No. They are van drivers, not welfare officers for the creature comforts zone. Preferable not a paper or cardboard one... and hope that the go back into the box after being let out for a drink ;) ;D ;D Get real eh! you dont have to let the birds outta the box to give them a drink do you? obviously they are not welfare officers but if a bird is in carriage nearly 24 hours it needs water does it not? or do you not give a stuff about the welfare of your birds like these tinpot delivery firms ?? so get real ROLLY ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;) :)
amdeliveries Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 hi. i am mike from am deliveries. i am giving the delivery service another go. we are not a huge company...yet. but we do care about the birds welfare. yes we have made mistakes in the past, we did offer to water the birds but only on request. now the birds will be given water every couple of hours whilst in our care. we now have a delivery system in place were by we only cover certain areas of the uk on certain days. the more work you guys put my way the more drivers i can employ, the quicker the service gets. if anyone has any suggestions on how i can improve my service i am more than willing to listen. also if anyone has any contact details for the big people in the pigeon world then please send me them or pass my details onto them and i will try and improve the service you currently get. i didnt start delivering pigeons to make a fortune to retire on , i started it because i was asked to by a pigeon racer in my area, who wasnt happy at being delivered a dead pigeon and being asked to pay for it. anyway i hope i have made my intentions clear. to all the people who have sent me emails offering me support i thank you. to all the people who have not used this service yet, what have you got to lose by trying it, you will be pleasantly surprised. finally... we do require full contact details for both collection and delivery point including telephone numbers. we txt or call when our driver is 30 mins away so if you are out you have time to get home before he arrives.
Guest chrisss Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 no more moaning about amtrak, we have an alternative now [nationwide?]
