ally mac Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 DM, Phoebe's Uncle, is a friend of mine who for some time now has been keen to get started with pigeons. Unfortunately, Anne, his wife is not so keen. Does anyone have any convincing words of wisdom to possibly change her mind. . Al.
OLDYELLOW Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 theres a sale on down town they son perk up then , wont change her mind but can get a loft up while shes out lol
grizzle_hen Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 To be honest, pigeons can seem a bit scary, for a while I really hated the sound of them flying and flapping around in the loft, especially when your feeding them, so Richard got me used to them, by showing me how to hold one and showing me the babies (which I liked). So maybe, if he gradually introduces them to her, she might grow to like them
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 yes now then anne pigeons are very nice birds you get to be taken out once a week dinner once a year but most of all you get to make a lot of freinds all round the country and you can keep an eye on hubby
Guest chrisss Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 they would/will help them keep their mind of whats going on,you know that however bad you feel .they still have to be looked after,[heart on sleeve time folks] when my daughter died they were one of the things that kept me going, try to get a few loft visits in it might help to get used to them a bit
heather down Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 when my late husband started back in the sport in 2000 I was fed up with him ,all he did was read, watch videos and talk pigeons. He had to go into hospital and I was left to clean and look after them and make sure new youngsters were eating and drinking ok. From then on I became really involved. Sadly he passed away feb 2006 but I have just started up again with the help of a friend of his. I coul'nt do it without him and he coul'nt do it without me as he works full time, i'm semi retired. It has been the best thing I could have done, meeting all my husbands friends and getting involved with the clubs again . we even won the 4th young bird race and came 2nd Fed and was 2nd and 3rd in the first race.

pjc Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 get her on-line and read some (selected stories ) on the forum, maybe also let her look at some pics and have a hand in selecting what you start with along with how the loft will look, where it will go in the garden etc etc. Phil
