Guest chrisss Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 the cause is good ,but you should have it on one of the "major sites" otherwise people might say that it is been used to promote your site[not fair? maybe, but it will be said]whats wrong with having it on this site a good track record of sales, large membership perfect, not trying to start a war [had enough this week thank you]either way i hope it goes well

red1chq3 Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Can I say what a big effort you have put into this auction, in term of getting donations and all for a worthy cause, but, regardless as to were you run the auction you need to be careful not to upset anyone, what I mean by this is that if your going to take bids by phone, e-mail and on your site I fear that comeing up to end, i.e. ten even five minutes before the close of the auction (take the Pheobe auction that closed on Sunday night, it was going 100mph at the end) noboddy, and I mean nobody is going to know whats going on. It will, to all intense and propouses become a lottery, with all the greatest respect, I really am concerned that you may not have thought this through properly, regards.
Guest Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Ideas are been discussed and details are been confirmed however the silet auction approach will proberbly be taken where offers will be invited over a month period and updates will be made every day with highest current bid only the other option is to run it on an auction site where uptodate current bids are recorded

red1chq3 Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 I hope you can you can see were I am coming from, I really am not trying to be funny or in your face about this, but unless everyone that has an intrest in the auction can all see what going on at any one given time, pretty much live, as its happening, kindest regards.

Guest Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 I am planning on allowing bidding through october and site updated atleast once a day on the last weekend there will be someone here for the whole two days between 10am and 11pm andrew
retired Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Holding it on an auction site with phone bids is a risky business as sure Del boy said there was problems with phone bids for his auction on Elimar (Maybe he can confirm?)
joe61 Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Andrew best thing is to run it on elimar, then there is no grey areas, when its over its over, plus Elimar is far bigger than this site, o more chance of raising lots of money for a big cause!! well done andrew.... cme on guys lets get behind him on this .. come on donate some birds or buy a good one from a reputable breeder. happy days oh days happy.....drunk

retired Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Good idea Joe, Andrew can rely on the members from Elimar and his DC site to provide the birds rather than this small site Without starting a debate with anyone and slipping too far 'off topic' i would doubt very much that 'Elimar' is bigger than this site, of course the only people who can really anwser that are Richard on here and Les on Elimar by comparing monthly figures over a 12 month period.
Guest chrisss Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 the difference is [i believe] elmar would take their commision, this site would not
ally mac Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I will just add that Elimar did take their commission on the Lot Albear donated to one of the Phoebe auction., despite Albear pointing out the situation. Richard and his moderators here have been more than helpful here and a pleasure to deal with. Al.
ChrisMaidment08 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 as you have all gathered im to the point of rudeness so if this is small site s o to big site dont ask for help on small site i think it has been demonstrated here the goodwill anddecancyon this site evan the help and concederation of richard charity sales are that and to take connision is not really very nice
ChrisMaidment08 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 and never muind my spelling
joe61 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 all im saying guys is elimar is an auction site and we would like as much money as poss to be raised and it would be bids only so would not get the chit chat with the bids and i wont mention your spelling chris oh happy days
ALF Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 all im saying guys is elimar is an auction site and we would like as much money as poss to be raised and it would be bids only so would not get the chit chat with the bids and i wont mention your spelling chris oh happy days But Elimar take 15% of sale price!!! And thats only if you add the birds to their site yourself and if they add them it's 17.5% of sold price it says so on their site
paddymac Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Maybe Elimar can drop their commission charge due to the fact that its going to a worthy cause and hopefully it will be publicly viewed on prime time tv and put the fancy in the better light to joe public.
joe61 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 agree 100% paddymac andrew might ask them to drop their fees in aid of a good cause he can only ask oh happy days
Guest Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Well, its Andrews idea, and efforts, and his choice will be final i suppose! But as its for charity, surely the suggested Site's percentage would be waivered? If not, as a donator, i honestly would not be happy at lining the pockets of agents when the birds are being donated for a good worthy cause. Whatever Andrew decides, i sincerely wish him good luck in his endeavors, but i really think that if the fee is not waivered, then alternative arrangements should be made, as already stated on here by Joe61, it is to raise as much money as possible, so why needlessly give a slice of it away?? Certainly food for thought!

Hi Al, sorry don't understand? the pair I put on for Pheobe were put on this site, are you saying that they were also put on Elimar? If that's the case I didn't realise that.
