Michael J Burden Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Jaap van Alphen has a number of birds on the auction sites many of which are pretty colours. I looked at his birds at his stand at Doncaster but sadly his pedigrees do not reveal much. Or I just can not read them because of the language barrier. I no very little about this seller but do like the look of his birds. I seem to recall someone on one ot the sites said they had had some off him. Does anyone know anything about this manand his birds? PS if you have some bad things to say may be you should consider putting it on a PM and not on the thread. Thank you in advance for your replies.
OLDYELLOW Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 i bought one off Jaap supposed to be hen but the type of pigeon i like are there but not in abundance , he seems to have a few good lines but i think hes just a breeding loft rather than a racing loft nice bloke tho :-)

Chrissy and me have birds off him, they are great looking and handling birds and they have produced some cracking young racers for us and a young hen off them this year has won at every show we have taken her to
BLACK W F Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Jaap does not race now but was one of the best flyers in his combine when he flew also a top judge he has a small breeding stud and has several familys some very good lines the ones i have off him i am delighted with and have another couple of pair coming cheers Alan
Silverdale Lofts Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Does he cross show birds into his pigeons the birds at doncaster looked like show birds crossed delbar
BLACK W F Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 he has not got show birds but if you look at his Arden based birds they would win in any show cheers Alan
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Does he cross show birds into his pigeons the birds at doncaster looked like show birds crossed delbar it is actually Delbars we have and they do produce big young birds.
retired Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Following on from what Silverdale said and taking into account Michael wanting it in PM - However my comments i will stand by on an open forum. Jaap had pigeons at the dome show both Delbar and Jan Theelen that were without a doubt in my mind crossed with show racers, they stood out a mile i handled a red pied theelen cock it was obvious especially after handling some of the show racers for sale that it was a cross, i was with another forum members that day and Steve Stoker who both felt the same. I had some Vandabeelees off Jaap and they are a different story - very nice birds and amongst the best i have seen him offer (certainly better than any at the dome show)
OLDYELLOW Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 ones he had at brid were ok ones i've seen last 2 years at blackers were also ok , perhaps hes been showing at the dome
retired Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 ones he had at brid were ok ones i've seen last 2 years at blackers were also ok , perhaps hes been showing at the dome Didnt think alot of his Blackpool birds or them of Pieter Kos but those at the dome were without a doubt crossed with SR (for anyone else that looked at them they were on the left hand side of the stand)
OLDYELLOW Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 i think your right having discussed it with Kirky there was a few namely ones next to the auction room there was quite a few , but most of these birds stood out a mile
BLACK W F Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Chris i do not know what his birds where like at the shows i can only comment on my own and there is nothing showy about them every one who has seen and handled them has said they are top class real racing type cheers Alan
OLDYELLOW Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 one i got had no show pigeon in it but as a cock not wanted i only buy hens in normaly and this was supposed to be a hen
retired Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Chris i do not know what his birds where like at the shows i can only comment on my own and there is nothing showy about them every one who has seen and handled them has said they are top class real racing type cheers Alan It was specifically the Delbars and Theelens Alan, the others i have seen and owned have been fine - Not all to my taste but thats no different to anyone - In hindsight i should have taken pictures of the birds. He had many van wanroy, a few rolands and some cardons which looked typical of the family as i have seen them before but the two families mentioned above were very obvious - I also noted from that side with them on all looked out this world, absolute stormers and cheap for a pure racer but only ONE sold so others must have thought the same.
BLACK W F Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Chris its the Jan theelans ive got
DeDarren Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I have recently bought 3 Koopman hens from Jaap, 2 of them have a wee cross of Van Hove Uytterhoven blood in them but this was by Koopman prior to selling the parents to Jaap. The hens are typical of the breed, time will only tell.
pjc Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 The Delbars at the dome were def Show racer crosses which is prob why they are winning in racer classes for you Tammy! At Aberdare in the spring he actualy had one labelled as a "show delbar"! Surely people buy Delbars to race from him and not to show? Phil

OLDYELLOW Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 well i suppose if hes selling show racers crossed hes probably mugged a few customers by not telling them thats the case i'd put it down to karma
joe61 Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 the man wants his money or birds you carry on knocking the man oldyellow and you know they are show racers do you your calling the man a fraud oh happy days
OLDYELLOW Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 no mention of fraud on my part however you seem to only post to create situations on a whole
swilcox Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 This isnt a good situation for anyone. I would like to add that we had an Auction in Newmains last year and we were treated very well by everyone that we met and who purchased our birds and i wouldnt hesitate to return there next season (thats the plan ). Im sure this guy was from out of town as the lanarkshire lads seem a sound bunch to me. Stuart
