Guest Vic Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 How many guys in this game these days are just in it, to make money, through excessive laundering, as such. Tax free etc. It really does make the mind bend!
Guest Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Never made a penny out of pigeons, and have no intention of doing so. given more away than I care to think about.
superstar Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Even this site is the same. sod the members when there is a few quid to be had! I see you are carrying a User Warning Vic below your avtar which seems strange as you can even threaten people on her yet not get so much as that. You must have done something terrible the likes of which I couldn't imagine?
bird man of meath Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 since on this site have been given birds 4 free by people i dont even know (dublin loft, anto) thanks lads. so i would say not many.
micko and jack Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 joined this site and posted i was looking indian fantails no one replied after about a week i sent another post again looking the birds but added I DONT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS IM NOT LOOKING BIRDS FOR FREE ILL PAY FOR THEM to be honest i was more than a bit p*ssed and the second post WAS a bit cheeky i couldnt get them anywhere in Ireland i was PM'ed by gangster a guy i didnt know from adam as the saying goes a few weeks later Jack recieved 6 indians how much did they cost me i was told JUST LET JACK ENJOY HIS BIRDS now remember mick didnt know me or Jack now some members are not in a position to give birds and we have been offered tipplers homers westies (which I think look lovely) ALL FREE OF CHARGE and we had to refuse those VERY KIND OFFERS but ALL of those members offer advice again free of charge and all of those tips and advice are sometimes better than the offer of birds I personally haven't a problem with people selling birds some members have spent loads of money on their stock but no one is being FORCED to buy SO PLEASE DON'T TAR EVERY MEMBER TO THE SAME BRUSH any fantails we couldnt keep due to having a small loft LEFT HERE FOR FREE micko

Tax free etc. It really does make the mind bend! I am making money out of pigeons :-/ I have never sold anything on the site, I do make dove cotes and breed fantails to sell with them and next year I plan to make other pigeon products. I have given away well in excess of 200 birds to members on the site this year and I am sure members like Valiant and Tammy etc will tell you some were good quality racing pigeons :-/ If some one does it better than me then good luck to them and would even help them in their quest as I am sure members will verify even you Vic We can't all be clones of Vic :-/

andrecrock Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Unfortunatly just like any thing in life,if there is money to be made then some one will make it.If you go into the sport to make money and to earn a living then you cant go round giving stuff away for free.....The reason why i joined the fantastic sport is because of peopel like Bob and many more friends in UK and South Africa, whom is out not to benifit their pockets but to promote the sport thru being true, kind and always willing to help, not always thru giving free birds and items but true advice that is so hard to come by for any novice..And i want to add, there is alot of peopel like that on this site with out naming names that is more than happy to help. I hope i havet afended any body, seeing im just a novice.(sorry about the miss speld words) andrecrock
ch pied Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 there are people on this site only to sell birds , this has increased in the last year , some are members on other site's with thousands of posts racked up , but they do not sell pigeon's on these other site's , they must think this site is full of muppet's & numpty's . they are using this site to shift the ( sh**e ) that should be in the bin

I prefer to do my helping out of the limelight and not looking for praise. What a lot of people forget is that they were all novices once, and without the help and advice of others none of them would be where they are today, myself included. It costs nothing to give help and advice, No one knows it all and your never to old to learn.

superstar Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 I have to agree with you there, if it wasn't for chickadee I would not be able do a lot of things in life They say behind every great man is a great woman! And wth your honest comment I'm sure you will brought copious amounts of tea and coffee throughout the day and your favorite tea will be served with a little extra on the plate. PS Have a good night ;) ;D ;D
Guest strapper Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 i think there are a few that sell just to make money, so what is wrong with that?..nothing as long as the birds are what breed you say they are! i sell a few but everyone knows the reason behind it, and next year i will breed a few to make up for the out lay on expenses of racing and corn. i will never make a fortune at it but as long as i make enough to cover what ive spent in 2009 then ill be happy, if not then as long as ive gained some back then thats ok. ask anyone ive dealt with over the last few weeks and they will tell you im not in it for the money. ive given away free birds where i could have made money for them. i see it as long as you give back to the fancy then what is wrong with someone selling , but i can imagine that some make big amounts at this selling game...me id be relagated if it was based on amount made lol

DOVEScot Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 y would you care . you dont have to buy pigeons from anyone you dont like not being smart Correct, if there were no buyers there would be no sellers
Guest spin cycle Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 nothing wrong with guys selling a few to help with their costs or even a bit more ....its the pigeon 'peddlars' that spoil it IMO. got to disagree with CH. PIED about the numptys....we're quite shrewd lot really (evil) (evil)
peterpau Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Well I've sold a few too, none have left here that were not good enough for me. I will only sell those wich are good, and I would bin 'em if they weren't
Guest Paulo Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 I'm trying to sell a few YB's to help me out with me costs next year. Got no time for all these con merchants who sell old birds all the time through. Half the time they are getting rid of their crap unless its an entire clearance

Larry Lucas Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 A straw man, actually. Is it an ethical lapse to go into business to sell pigeons? No, unless one is not honest about their birds. The best pigeon studs do more than anyone to make good blood lines available to the average fancier at a reasonable cost. Who else would go out and spend thousands on proven birds only to offer children and grandchildren at a fraction of their original investment. If they make money I say, "Good for them" because it is good for the sport. There is no virtue in not charging for our pigeons and there is no virtue in selling them either. In my opinion it was a black day for pigeon sport in the USA when Campbell Strange sold out. Honest and a straight talker. He said that only 10% of the pigeons he bred would prove to be excellent and there was no way in advance to know which ones those would be. He was up-front about everything and you paid your money and took your chances. More were happy than were not. A better question would be, "Which pigeon studs in the UK have you had success with and gave you good value for the money?"
ribble Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 A couple of half decent results, the in strain and they all want a £££££. PARASITES the game is full of them.
Lennut Tar Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 A couple of half decent results, the in strain and they all want a £££££. PARASITES the game is full of them. Well that's what I like etc. Down to earth (Honest) & firing straight from the hip one could say. Now !!!!!!!!!!!!!, we will forget about all the "parasites" that you could name in your wisdom (Wink wink). Just give us a small insight into who, you believe would be fair & honest. When selling pigeons to others in the sport in your area, as an example. Enjoy.
