IF THE PIGEON FANCIER DOESN`T START TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THESE KILLERS WHO WILL.

quite agree patty boy ,, its the fanciers, be it wild song  bird fanciers,  fancy pigeon fanciers ,show bird fanciers , racing pigeon fanciers , farmers , game keepers   that should be all pulling from the same rope      all that keep any sort of  birds  ,,,,,all are having  them  killed by hawks , i beleive all pigeon unions,,,con-federations ,   the save our songbird trust s,o,s  [made up mainly of dis-satisfied ex-members of the rspb],,the , gamekeepers,,, etc etc should join in force , also the public made aware of the true facts why the songbirds are dissapearing fast  :) [and of course made aware of these war pigeons, that saved so many lives]  there has to be a way , somehow, sometime, the sooner the better , but in genuine  perseverence in never giving up this battle ,,,,,,by all, and alltogether,,,,the number of raptors are at an all time great , surely this has to be sought into,  by the proper authorities i,e the law,,,, i,e the wild life and country act ,its time now for some of these wildlife and country acts to be changed

if you were to kill or hurt any of the rspb hawks they would take you to court i wonder if you could turn the tables and take them to court if their hawks killed your pigeons it would be a land mark case if someone did and won .

i just wish this would be poss, it certainly could be,  albeit  with a lot of thought , and top lawyers , but yes, it certainly would be a land mark case ,, and could or would make for  changes :)

It just wouldn't work. You have absolutely no idea how much influence this organisation have. I have a list of environmental jobs sent to me weekly. On this the RSPB advertise at least 10 jobs each week with salaries of about £20k. They are major employers. Some of these jobs are simply to monitor bird of prey nesting sites in season.

Once I had a Sparrowhawk in my loft and wrote to my M.P. asking that I should be given the right to protect what was mine on my property. I, in turn, had a letter from Donald Dewar enclosing a nice booklet on birds of prey and warning me about the potential for prosecution should I take the law into my own hands.

I think what the SHU are trying to prove is that-

1 Deterrants don't work.

2 We do lose birds to these predators.

3 That nuisance birds can be caught and relocated and continue normal lives in a new location. This would allow the use of Larssen traps under licence for relocation purposes.

This is the best we can achieve at the moment and would be the initial step.

Point 3 I will leave open to interpretation.

"it just wouldnt work" maybe a slight defeatist attitude, but your post is certainly spot on, :),, and  after all ,, david beat goliath :),

Something to hope for I suppose the thin end of the wedge.

Unfortunately a great deal of data is being lost now due to the snow.

Worth noting the rspb are not involved in this in any way. They tried unsuccessfully to get the Scottish Government to abandon it.

Also worth noting that we are the first to be offered this; game land managers / gamekeepers and others also want the same as us, some protection in law for their stock.

Time a march on downing street ... never happen, unless they can get someone else to walk for them. All moan.... do nowt.

There are other concerns like ours too... time we got together.... but has to be a person of a responcible position... so that will never happen either.

All chuck a quiddy apiece into the coffers and hire a PR Firm to lobby parliment. To put across our plight to Job Public etc. WHAT! A £1 ... so that will never happen... so guess the only other two things would be POUR ON invertamin... But the Raptures / Hawks spout lies and said they already use it... 98% decide to believe it convienently so that will never happen. The Saddle, which does work, as the Arabs have shown for thousands of years, yes that works... but means the Fancier has to put it on ... so that will never happen.

Me... well have no problems with peregrines etc. So sorting them will never happen here!

Otherwise would!

Sparrow Hawks, well though only 80yards up the road are content with the ferals on a delict cinema... otherwise would treat them to a cock canary, ... That may well happen.
