Encouragement...........not a chance!!!!!!

Well 20 is twenty. But every bird sent means  surely less overall costs.

Never been worried about the Mobb Flyer.... the more the merrier, means my 6 or so go cheaper. Now what is the difference between 1 member sending say 80, and 10 members sending 8? I know, the Mob flyer' has more chance of have one on song!

But these very ones that try to stop them being 'Raced' as to being sent (Costs the same as a Trainer, and the owner has to choose his best birds that week end) Aplaud and tally ho the very names that send 100 - 200 or more to a so called National! Some time less that 200 birds, and a 1/3 are sent between three flyers... and heralded as GREAT flyers! Yes these club die hards buy off them national mobb flyers and reverve them! No wonder thay are afraind of the keen youngster /* old boy that does his work and prepares birds for each race... and sends some as trainers for obvious reasons. I'd love all my club members to send 100 birds, golly 3000 birds nearly hitting our area.... and still getting clobbered in the Fed lol.

I can now see there is more to this than meets the (auld pre ETS) eye. So, one way or another whatever happens you and the lad will have to think it through and do what you need to do. I am quite confident you (both) will choose the correct route to take. Main thing though is that you (both) enjoy the experience of pigeons and have fun.(happy_gangsta) sorry about the lack of smilies but for some reason these are all I can get.

Kieran my 12 year old Son has just attended his first Club AGM and I think he's attended more grown up meetings at the School!!!!!

They are trying to impose a 20 Bird limit on all races - but send as many as you want as trainers - but due to the fact the Proposal wasn't seconded they have admitted it couldn't be decided tonight  so they are going to organise a 'special meeting'.

There are only a few members who send over 20 Birds so it's easy to see who they are getting at.

Kieran's Dad pointed out that this could mean Kieran may have the first Bird home but wouldn't get a ticket for it!!! (This could also affect his application for Young Fancier of the Year)

They reply from one member (a Grown Man apparently) was "do you want us greeting (crying)"

In this day and age and the Dying Sport what encouragement does this show to a Young Lad?

i, for one, would not like to win a race under false pretences  , if any of his club  members" win" and keirnan has, say 4 b4 him,, but trainers?? , i certainly wouldnt hold my head up saying "ive won the race" if i knew there were four birds b4 me ,, no matter how many  anyone sends ,

, not only that, there  is  far more at stake for this young fancier to possibly win ,[but through these rules,  has less chance, not his fault,  or not his birds fault] but surely   , if this young fancier did manage to win "further afield  than his club, or fed,,,, should the club or fed not take pride in having this  young lad, as a member,,

if there was no seconder for this proposal then the officials of your club should not have allowed the proposal to be discussed and as such it can not be dealt with at any further meeting be it special or continued agm  or whatever name they intend to give it, and thats a fact please refer to item 40 of the shu constitution and shu club rule 8.

this matter can only be dealt with at your next years agm and will then requires a two thirds majority vote as this is an alteration to the clubs recognised activities

in my opinion this is a very short sighted proposal and could have serious consequenses which could not only affect birdage and running costs for your club but should other clubs within your fed adopt the same ruling then it will surely increase fed costs which could possibly come back and bite the proposer and the people who support it in the ass.

congratulations to kieran on winning shu young fancier of the year and good luck in the coming season.

i might have got some of this wrong every member can send 20 birds and time in 20birds so how can anyone beat him if he times his first say 2 birds out of his 20 to be 1st 2nd club and his 20th bird ends up 40th club whats all the fuss about i think 20 is plenty (try bieng the person who has to type all those meaningless birds into a result it might change your thoughts about the no to be  timed in ) and as most clubs only have six cards to be won why time in all those birds senceless tome but i do agree if it had no seconder then it must fall untill next agm this is my main reason i dont like ets as has been proved in feds in central scotland 2 men taking the first 30 places in the fed week in week out how does a  young fancier just getting started compete with that he wont he will just give up and go away lost for good

what they mean frank if he sends 21 birds and the 21st bird on his sheet is first home because it is not in the first 20 it does not count, under these silly rules you could win every race with your 21st bird on your sheet and not win a thing.

i agree thats wrong but i would think it might suit the novice/small team man

every bird you send deserves to have credit so why would they want a bird limit?

our club has no limit and we only clock upto 3 birds at any one time(each member)...unless they are very close together then maybe 4 birds....naturally on national races it differs.

None but get used to it because theres a lot of negatively in the sport. I was the first new member our club had had for 6 years and they tried to stop me getting in over a verbal argument with their precious chairman that I didn't even start.

As for bird limits they are for whingers at the end of the day if your birds are good enough they'll beat the mob flyers birds easy. Even the top lofts only have a small percentage of pigeons that are winning for them. I'm a small team man and I've beaten men who send 60's in our club before.

I deprise mob flyers but at the end of the day if a man pays his birdage he's entitled to send as many birds as he wants.

Maybe suggest having a 6 bird club within the club as a nom then it would keep the smaller team men happy and bring out the skill of actually nominating and pooling what bird will win for you. Thats one of the true art of pigeon racing to me picking out a winner in ya loft cause you have picke dup the signs its hitting peak form. Rather than sending 40 birds and pooling them all to the hilt cause you can't pick a winner out.

I have raced on a 20 bird limit for over 10 years now  for both yb & ob racing in a 70 member club and it has made no differance to the top table every year its the same guys, in fact the top guys are now taking more prize money than they did when there was no limit, yes you do get trainers at times,  if any member was to  clock a trainer and it wins the club that can be put down as the winner if you are going for any awards , its just you dont get the prize money in the club. Hey whats it really matter its a sport enjoy it and dont let then get you down.
