Dave barrie Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 our y/bs this year have their own loft with aviary at the bottom of the back yard, basicly to harden them up weather wise and give plenty fresh air to be as natural as possible i suppose. my problem is the streetlights are very bright at night, they are roosting around 6 30 and are on the go early morn ,how will this affect moult for later on? we dont want to darken loft up restricting air flow. any comments , they were weaned three wks past so early bred. cheers davy
Tony C Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I dont know the answer to you question but if your pigeons started to body moult and start throwing flights like confetti akin to the light system I would be concerned. If I were in your situation I would make up some screens which I could easily place in front of the loft in the evenings and remove in the mornings. I would make the screens out of a material like this, cheap and light http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/rush-screening-c-378.html
greenlands Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I was in Wilkinsons at the weekend and saw some cheep stuff in there that might make good screens,it's what gardeners use to keep weeds down,it was for pennies nearly got some to put up at the loft windows instead of the perspex thats in now.Lindsay
