Guest Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 I live 800yds from Bernard Matthews HQ in Great Witchingham and as yet I have not been officially told that my few free range Banties have to be confined as they were on the last outbreak. Yaxley, one of the sites mentioned, is nearer to me than the site of the previous outbreak. When I hear of anything, I will let you know as I have 2 brother-in-laws working fro BM.

Guest IB Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 There's very little info on DEFRA website other than confirming an outbreak in East Anglia? and it's neither H5 or H7 so likely to be Low Pathogenic like recent outbreaks on mainland Europe. Restirictions apply on the infected premises only pending lab results, and if it is LPAI, it's a 1km Zone for 21 days.
Gail J Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 A routine veterinary investigation is ongoing at two poultry premises in East Anglia into the possible presence of notifiable avian disease, Defra has confirmed today. Animal Health began the investigation late on Tuesday evening (24 February). Laboratory tests are ongoing and there is no conclusion yet. However, laboratory results so far have confirmed the presence of an avian influenza virus, and that it is neither H5 nor H7. Restrictions remain in place on the premises while the investigation continues. No further precautionary restrictions are considered necessary in the area at present. Routine veterinary investigations into notifiable diseases occur on a regular basis. It is a legal requirement to notify the Animal Health agency of the possibility of such diseases whenever these cannot be ruled out by a vet or an animal keeper as part of the diagnosis of illness in animals or birds. This is the info on DEFRA website

Top Brass in forces / their widows quickly paid out ... ground troops drawn out. Bankers etc. The layman has to get in a long line of pitfalls and put offs to achieve eh! joe61 Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 And typical, a few weeks before racing starts! sod peoples jobs and health...... just as long as this guy can race his pigeons.... what a guy.
Guest IB Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 We haven't eaten any Bernard Matthews products after the 1st outbreak and we wont be eating any of his product's ever again My family did the same, and I suspect a lot others too. Folk talking about the money he made from the last outbreak are actually talking drivel, his sales plummetted and he had to spend £8m? on a product re-launch. Don't think it worked for him either, this one will kill his business (with any luck).
