grizzle_hen Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 I'm at school now waiting for the P1's to come in from their break and I have 2 youngbirds to show them. I'll post up a couple of photos later
Guest shadow Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 well done used to do that myself when I had pigeons :)
pigeonpete Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 well done, wish i had time to get into my sons school
grizzle_hen Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 I'm back from school now, they loved the pigeons, lots of "ahhh he's so cute" from the little girls. Some of them were very observant and noticed the ring round their leg and they were amazed at how far they could fly. I used a map of the UK to show them. I'm also surprised at how calm the pigeon was with all the children peering round and wanting to touch. They all had turns to pet the pigeon then they all had a go at drawing the pigeons and the basket, I held one of the pigeons for them whilst they did this. Just having some trouble uploading the photos at the moment, I'll get let them up later on (well one has worked)
grizzle_hen Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 well done Gemma, whose birds did you hyjack? John Harcus's birds and they were very well behaved young birds
grizzle_hen Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 I have photos of some of the pictures they drew, but I need to rotate them first (if I can work it out)
pigeonpete Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 well done Gemma, whose birds did you hyjack? lol, good job they were'nt my birds they would have scared the kids to death!! wild, they would have been out that basket, and bouncing round the classroom!! anyway well done gemma.
cemetary Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Gemma, You could have got some from Baldy next door to John, if they are well behaved birds, they are Baldys, and not Johns. :P How many of the kids did you manage to sign up to the forum. ;D ;D Well done indeed.

I am sure my boys own the nestmate to one of them pigeons though?
Peckedhen Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Great PR Gemma and the kids have obviously enjoyed it. I love the drawing of you with the long blond hair! ;D I'll suggest they have a pigeon day at my school.
Guest IB Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 well done hopefully something they wont forget can u imagine them at home now can we get pigeons please please please please please ;D ;D ;D Yep, reminders of 'long ago' at a recent family gathering backs that up. Children were my cousins, Primary schoolchildren, a few years older than Gemmas, I'd be early teens. Took them in to see the pigeons, had a feathered youngster still in the nest, told them to cup their hands, then sat the bird in each of their hands. 40+ years later, they still remembered that.
