on the 23rd March I lost one of my best hen birds, i had been waiting a year to breed from her and she had just laid a couple of eggs.

she went out of the loft for a fly late in the afternoon, leaving her mate behind....... she never returned. I blamed every hawk in the area

this morning 10 days later my neighbour came round, he had heard scratching in one of his cavity walls, and after cutting a hole to find out what it was out popped the hen bird. A little thinner but in general good health.

well done to the cowboy builders that at one time had removed an internal chimney stack and not bothered about putting up an RSJ and blanking off the remainder of the stack... leaving ample room for wild life to wander around my neighbours property in the secret passages

had the same happen to me with a cock bird that fell down my chimney but he was only down there for 3 days after we heard him scratching about in there   it made a bit of a mess getting him out so the next day i capped the chimney off   glad you got your hen bird back though    kev :)
