STB CLOCKS

Just been reading on another site that the RPRA have passed the use of STB clocks without thimbles or modification,anyone else heard anything.Lindsay

Might be a bit dodgy using a STB without a thimble or any sought of modification,the rubber on its own could easily jam up the clock.

yes you would have to make sure its pushed right in or it would jam,

might be as well to use the part which you put the rubber in and not put the stopper in

you must be careful if the rubber is sticking out just a little from the top of the thimble hole it will jam between that and the spindle, not any space between them I have seen a clock jam if the rubber was just a bit out the thimble, so the extra time taken making sure about putting a rubber without a thimble might not be worth it

Perhaps a insert like the one you can get for the T3 might be a good idea.

From what I hear this only applies to the square case STB’s (six digit clock number). Apparently a disclaimer has to be signed in case a rubber jams stating they’ll be no comebacks on anyone, its at the owners risk.

were they not designed originally for no thimbles and as for some1 saying about the ets i think ill stick to stb as i enjoy runnig to catch the pigeon taking the rubber off and clocking them

Hi pigeon82,the old STB have no cover plate and there might be a chance that the rubber could jump out,they were modified and are now fitted with a plate.

I will be racing with a s.t.b. and using a thimble, may I add.     All this, trying to save one second, I find it amusing myself. ;D  Even the ETS system will only  handicap my  first arrival  by  a  maxmum of 5 seconds.  One "lap of honour in pigeon parlance"  ;D  The greatest advantage a s.t.b. has over me, is with multiple arrivals. But these are the also rans in Vics mind. I'm actually amazed how many have wasted good money for just a couple of seconds advantage. ;)

you might loose a few seconds Vic I've been loosing more for years been only able to use one hand to catch remove rubber close thimble and strike clock , so im more than happy to get my ets as ill be on a more level playing field in the clocking department and the benifits of not having clock shy birds for many years to come will be worth the out lay

Hi Vic, you must be young and agile looking at the times you can clock a pigeon,there are fanciers in our club who would take upto 30 seconds to clock their first bird, probably dropping the first thimblue due to atheritis ,blokes in there 80's and unstable on their feet at the best of times.I'm pretty fit at 63,64 next month and them few seconds count if you want to be at the top of the sheet. ,  

         Approaching 71, Vic can assure you that he  has experienced being "top of the sheet" on occasions, although enjoyment in this game, doesn't necessary come with successful seasons. Many a good season, I would have gladly swapped, for the return of an old favourite. :'(  I too have a small handicap, due to aging, and at times are unstable on my pegs, But thats my fault ;D  A pigeon on form will deliver, always remember this! Stand by where it will FINISH! Then you are on par with the ets system. Regards, Vic

indeed vic flew me birds in a club in the fed (not naming which club) nico stay away from the ETS what did them same fellas do get one now i am in a new club vic now one has got 1 which is good. i could get one tomorrow vic but i love the buzz ov runing in the shed and clocking them in
