niether am i a coffin dodger at only 45  and only into distance racing , bigda says hes  only into sprint racing  , because he couldnt  compete at the distance as its a different ball game (a wee bit harder)

tell me this then hotrod why has distance racing never improved i.e. it has never  improved  in its  velocity, you  now  fly  less distance than it once did,  so there for no improvement have you made in all those years waisted  time

back in the seventies birds where  home in 10-11 hours no improvement now   and yes you are at the age of  coffin dodging  even  as if you cant see it your self ;D

The fact of the matter is, everybody comes into the pigeon game very aware of the ultimate in pigeondom. That is distance racing, getting a good timer from a great distance. A race that tests the homing ability to the full, a race that tests the heart of a bird and the will to get home. It brings a tear to your eye when you think of such achievements put up by these small bundles of feathers.Joe 61 and Timberra your son can say what you want , but I know that if you were offered such a pair of birds then you would be ordering a new loft for your distance doos. ;)

how have we not improved ?and as for less distance how do come up with that ? i used to fly 554 miles from the gold cup race now with the snrpc gold medal race i fly 590 miles  dahhhhh! if birds were home in 10 /11 hours it was from averanches just about 500 miles to central scotland and with the wind up there ar /se  now we have all the raptor 's to deal with mobile phone mast's  no one can compare  the 70's and now its all changed.

Everybody i know of dreams about winning a national etc who do you know who dream about winning a sprint?

Why are nationals flown from the distance and not 100m? Anybody can win/get birds home from 100m but how many get them from 500m +?

If you were an out and out sprint racer and you were offered a pair of pigeons that bred an National Diploma winner ( at the distance ) guaranteed  in every nest, would you want them ? I think I know the answer but to settle an argument please put up your views.

strange question del,i have always been of the opinion that 99% of fanciers would love to have distance birds but these are so thin on the ground ,so even if being an out and out sprint racer you would be very foolish to turn down this very special pair that lay the golden eggs.!!!!!!!!!! ;) ;) ;)

never here you squawk about the 1,000 mile races  hot rod

you still havent improved the  birds  in all this  time   they take longer  now two days  seems to be acceptable  or three

your only playing at distance racing man :-/

Grand National Winner every time.Sprint race is easier because you don't lose that many birds from 100/180 miles.Long distance 500 miles and beyond the loses are horrendous, very few are actually capable of such a feat. And the pigeons that manage to achieve this are unquestionably the cream.
