DJ Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 ive just had my first stray of the year arrive today but rather than go into my loft it just sits on the loft roof and then flies off as soon as i go anywhere near it, hopefully it may clear on its own by tomorow but if it does decide to enter my loft i will feed/water it and give it its liberty hoping that it will work its way home under its own steam :-/ im just hoping that this year isnt going to be as bad as last year as to be honest im fed up with all the excuses as to why some people cant send for their birds debbie
Guest chrisss Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 the "excuses" will be worse this year, you have the credit crunch, and couriers that can only pick up on certain days etc
Novice Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 I also had my first stray last week and it was not lost traning. It was lost while flying round the loft about 25 miles from me. The birds were attacked by a hawk and scattered in all directions. It's taken several days for the bird to start behaving normally. Having phoned the owner I will toss it close to home today.
Guest rodders Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 i changed the front of my loft this year and iv had more strays allready than iv had in last 2 years loft must look like a pigeon loft now ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
blaz Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 if you had a bad race and lost 3 all reported .you had to send for all 3 their near£90 to get back 3 birds that are no good . a good pigeon flyer would give you the choice send for them or i will dispose of them for you.
Guest vining45 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 i try to find out where their from and see if i can find a lorry going that way and release them as close to home as possible

gooner Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 i may get booted for this but if you put them in race then you thought they were good enough so in my view you should send for them and dont think that all strays are rubish is my view i have had birds in that the owners were here to pick up in no time sometimes the bird makes mistake culling is not in my lifestyle for anyone couldnt agree with you more numpty if they are good enough for the owner to race then they should be sent for

Guest numpty01 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 oh no i force noone to send i just leave um out till they decide to go i wont cull there is only one man i will make send for his birds if i get one and one day i might ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Feed, water and rest then ilb away from your loft.
kev01293 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 i totally agree with gooner and numpty if people are prepared to send em then they should be prepared to send for em if they get reported i understand that some people are short of cash but if we can afford to feed, medicate and race em then we should also pay to send for em if they can be rested/fed and they then choose to make their own way home then thats great but if the stray becomes a nuisance and refuses to head for home then we shouldnt expect the finder to have to deal with OUR problem kev ps if i remember rightly didnt les jones win a national with a stray a couple of years ago?
grizzal Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 yes les did win a national with a stray, but most members try to get them to go on there own,by feeding watering and tossing down the road most go the odd one will come back that is when we phone to give the owner the choice off what to do with it.
les Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 all strays that enter my loft this year will get reported ,and if they dont want to send for it ,then it will be looked after untill it is fit to fly then tossed on a good day with a [ ANTI MATING JACKET ON ] just one more idea of mine ,so if you get a bird with one on just try and copy it and do the same as me ATB les.
Guest numpty01 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 now that is the best idea i have heard all week les well done ;D ;D
Ted Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Sorry Les, new to sport, what is 'Anti mating Jacket?

les Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Sorry Les, new to sport, what is 'Anti mating Jacket?just keep asking every pigeon person you get to meet ,one of them will show you ,sorry but if it dont get about how to make them after all i have done then it just shows that no one realy wants to stop the carnage ATB les.
