Guest Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 ;)Would like some veiws on the following please , Ihave an 05 latebred cock , who is bred down from 400/500 mile winners (not my winners) was settled and flying here spent 12 months in stock loft but bred nothing of worth , What do you think to putting him on the road to race in 07 ?? ps had no training at all to date ! THANK YOU .
ACE LOFTS Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 my personael advise would be he has been in stock to long, and u would loose him as soon as u let him out.
Guest Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 :oHe was flying out for approx 6 months before going into stock loft january of this year , does that make any differance ?? : :
Wiley Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 i had a cock bought him in the clearence sale of dennis nunn couple years back was in stock shed for 2 yrs bred crap,i bought him as a yearling neva flew out from my loft, broke him out and i got him back from lerwick this year anything is possible with pigeons just whether you want to take the chance
Guest shadow Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Some broken pigeons will race OK others are rubbish, you haveto take a chance if he has bred nothing worthwhile put him down the road
ribble Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 if it hasn't bred anything, what have you to loose? but then again you have only bred of him for one year.you could regret it.
stew 75 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 hi novice do you have any birds left you bred from this stock cock if you have wait and see what thay breed next year . breeding from stock birds is not allways instance success . have you never stoppped to think it may bee the wrong hen he was paired to
Guest Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 ::)Hi STEW no no youngsters left , all gone , yes he was paired to the same hen all through . Yes i did think perhaps he was with the wrong hen , but on paper they looked right . Honestly nothing else (henwise) to pair him to others are sprint /mid distance birds.Wiley he was here from a squeaker (not broken to loft) sorry and Shadow . :
mosslands1 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 give him his freedom back and give him a nice sexy girlfriend pair him up then train him with the other birds next season then race him lightly inland only next year then send him on then channell or distance race the next year does that make sence to you
Guest Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 ;)Hi moss , yes that does make sense , i dont want to appear lacking in patience , i have aquired some new stock and have to make space ,or would have tried him for longer ! Also how far inland do you think i should send him? (if youre in north shrops ur only a little bit further down the road than me).
mosslands1 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 wher are you from we race to wemouth on the coast send him as far inland as you can
Guest Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 ;)OK portland is our furthest inland racepoint .Wrexham federation . approx 174 miles (i think) THANK YOU.
Guest Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 ;)Thanks for replies so far all taken into consideration . Would still welcome veiws or tips on above posting , THANK YOU . :B :B
schouwman71 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 have you tried him with several hens first,i know sometimes you just need to find the right hen,as i know an r.p.r.a sprint national winner was paired to seven hens before he bred winners after that he never looked back at breeding top class winners,if his parents are winners ang g.parents are winners think about it.
Wiley Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Race him mate,ya can still try 2 young uns out of him next year, even by racing him,if you dont rate him as a breeder what harm will it do by putting him on the road, agree with the above posts just race him inland the coming season once well trained and see how he goes on the channel the following
paul l Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 dont know unless u try if u are prepered to loose him then what u got 2 loose u could send out all yur bad birds and a few good birds but all the good ones might not get home and what u think is a bad bird puts the point on the tabel for u its a chance u have to take in this sport if its a bad one u learn from it and move on just dont make same mistake twice paul
pigeonaa Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 had a 5 yr old stock cock keeping a hen happy he never been out asked my dad to basket birds for me sent cock by mistake was 3rd club brussells never thought i see im again strange creatures pigeons
