hi there does the members think that line of flight training is important, someone wrote in a thread in the board that to win sprint races you had to train on line of flight. this season i am going to be training in the opposite direction as it will be more easy for me what do you all think thanks lc

i think it depends also on your location. Yes line of flight is important but also a few tosses off line to make the birds have to think doesn't hurt either.

If we only ever trained on line, knowing most weeks our birds will be pulled 10miles off line either way then i'm sure we'd lose more than we do.

Well you have to ask why do fanciers train, i'd say mainly for fitness/sharpness, so line of flight matters nowt! If its old birds your talking about and your trying to teach them where there home is then maybe you have a problem!! How often do our birds really come on an exact line of flight, not very often if at all, so i'd say be no problem at all, just keep it regular time wise.

i think best to train in all directions of your loft and make your birds more aware of there complete surroundings within the radius of your loft, done this many years ago and had very few losses at all in the end !!!!

we have a guy in our club who fly`s on the north road then when the classics and nationals come he send`s the same birds across the water.he`s had some very good results too.this guy has won fraserbrugh on the saturday and sent the same pigeon across the water with the national or classic and clocked with a very good result,so line of flight....dunno.

Train in the opposite direction all the time,in saying that don't do much winning though. ;D ;D ;D

Yep 100% right!

Gosh we don't even  know how they home, so how can we teach them anything?

Training is for fitness and condition ... Breaking points and Line of flights for the fancier!

Training on path does benefit but as some members say, all points of the compass makes the bird think and keeps them on the ball.   ;)

well that a tough question i personally train of line of flight and i don't do too bad i think a lot will come out when more fanicers start using gps think there will be suriped what line the birds are taking also also on breaking points i think with real sprint races this might work but what i think u need for it to work is some sort of mark i.e a monument that really sticks out  ie a big tower that can be seen easily

at the end of the day good birds and management we cant make them find there way but we can make them fit and have the right amount of energy in the tank

for yb's i try to train on the line of flight until they have had a couple of races, then i move them about ,ob's i train anywhere im going which is mostly north although i race south

if you are in a tight fed radius and want to win up to 200 miles then i think it best to train on the line of flight only

i think maybe yb,s better trained line of flight, then when confident, trained off line slightly,, but with old birds in my opinion doesnt matter so much [as long as theve been well trained as yb,s] i think we tend to train yb,s to learn them the  area, whereas , were training g ob,s to get them fit,, only my opinion, but have prooved this for myself :)

i agree with what mickb bewted say as far as ybs training goes i would try and keep them to the line of flight if possible obs if its a bit windy i like them to fly against it if poss
