Agree with BANDIT, the ones that win and keep coming.

Have to admire J Donalson from Peterhead. Looked at his results and again this year he wins (i think) 2 x Section G from the distance sending 4 - 5 birds. Top Man. Noticed one of his bird was clocked twice at the distance, one race 400+ the other 2-3 weeks later 600+

Depends what you mean by 'Channel birds'. In my loft every OB is a 'Channel bird' and quite a few YBs if you count Guernsey.

Our shortest Channel race point is Picauville  99mls, Guernsey is slightly further  112mls.

After a couple of Inland openers every race in the Solent Fed OB programme is from France, so Channel birds are two a penny down here.

Most of our Club races are short to middle distance so practically any pigeon strain should be capable of Channel flying for me.

Agree 100% as most of the birds here in Northern Ireland also have to fly the Channel

So ivegot some heinz breads all mixed is ther away of telling by wing width lengh flight gap or some way that gives you an idea of distance, apart from the basket and the condition of the bird when it returns,

The only way to find out if it can fly the distance is to send it. We have seen so called distance birds lost form 80 mile and so called sprint birds win 500 mile races.
