Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Took my y/bs for there first toss today 30 of them released them in 2 batches and out of no where came a batch of about 200 birds seen most of mine join them and last seen heading in totally the opposite direction to home just my luck this....

Guest strapper Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 ive lost 12 birds loft flying this morning...8 returned after an hour as usual but the others ive had back came back 3hrs later...4hrs flying..half got dropped wings and knackered but still 12 missing.

Ronnie Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 hello mate where in cheshire are you i sent mine training earlier had em all on the garden this morning and now 5 missing .Also have about 7 sat on house roof with what look like orange stock rings on em could they be a few of yours.Been batches flying over all day and ive heard the weather south of crewe is turning bad. Fingers crossed for ya I'm in winsford by the way

I have about 5 birds on my roof that arnt mine all blue bars if there yours. Mine all have green ets rings on them if you get any in
Roland Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Old timers, before training, like I often did too, would take the youngsters up to tye Fed Li site and release them with the Barnsley / Sheffield lot. Only after they had finished ranging of course. Some broke straight off, others later, the rest would have had a good fly too and start getting back at 4 30 or so in afternoon. The odd late comer in early morning. Losses? Very few.

pjc Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 they will have learnt a lot today! If there was a big batch it could be somebody running a training service and will prob lib about same time each trip so may be worth changeing your time to avoid clash.

Guest Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 after tosses like that you will lose a few that shouldnt have a space in your loft(bad ones) and they rest will have learnt and will be harder to lose
