Guest spin cycle Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 i voted no..but its a difficult one. on the one hand i wouldn't want to deny people their sport...but i do feel it sends out the wrong 'signal' about pigeon racing. to me breeding birds for 6 races , loosing 40% (typically) and then selling them ( what happens if they don't sell?????) is wrong. to me it says the gambling is more important than the destiny of the birds. i don't think its a future for pigeon racing. our country seems obssesed with gambling bingo on telly now, later roulette...then there's the 'net' with poker etc. i've nothing against a 'flutter'....but it gets some vulnerable people in trouble. ALL JMO

K J Young Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 well talking from experience , the one loft races give everybody the same chance , and if you think its done to make money your crazy . If you count all the hours that get put in from feb to sept a lottery win would,nt cover it . The federation idea is fine but you.ll still get fanciers saying ( Am no doing that i could never win )
sammy Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 The federation idea is fine but you.ll still get fanciers saying ( Am no doing that i could never win ) so before its even tried you have put them damper on it right away aint yi
K J Young Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Its got nothing to do with dampers on it . Its the truth

K J Young Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 It does,nt matter what you want to run or how you run it , There is always somebody who wont like it . I think one loft races should fly with there local fed so the birds get spilt up but still fly to the same location so the best birds come to the front. Rather than one big training toss.

rick Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 i like the idea but my probs are its to expensive and they keep ur bird but if it goes missing during training its still ur responsability to collect it???
K J Young Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 well the way i run mine this year , a. You the fancier entered as many birds as you wanted at £25 Per bird b. All the birds were tansfered into my name , c. The birds got trained etc d. All birds remaining before first race cost £50 to activate So if you lost your bird it only cost you £25 . I thought this was the fairest way to run it . And also they flew with our fed. Winning a number of fed tickets.

K J Young Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 I well i thought that too but did,nt seem to take of . I will decide in the next couple of months if i will do it next year . i would like to concentrate on ma own doo,s
Guest bigda Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 A wouldny unless it was to the same loft there are guys in our fed gamble £35 £50 on open races so whats the problem in winning £12,500 and you are the trainer of your own bird, and you can send it training to build it up to its race, a yearling race where every one, as you all say will send there best birds is that no what you all say when trying to sell them at one loft races am i right again what!
K J Young Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Then its still just a normal race , senting them , training them yourself. This way you still fly against other people , have the same chance as everybody , no worries about wind or loft location . And hopefully still competing against all the federation to see how they are doing.
